(Alliance News) - Great Western Mining Corp PLC on Monday posted "highly encouraging" results from its soil sampling exercise in the Mineral Jackpot area of Mineral County in Nevada.
"Mineral Jackpot", Great Western Mining explained, is a generic term and includes a number of gold and silver mines in Mineral County, including the Mineral Jackpot, Silver Moon, Silver Bell, Ming Toy, Cabin Rock, and Bass mines.
In total, 249 soil samples and a single grab sample were taken at Mineral Jackpot over November and December before being sent to Nevada's Bureau Veritas laboratory for analysis. Results from this analysis have been received, analysed and reviewed internally.
Results of this sampling have roughly doubled the size of the mineralised footprint over the Mineral Jackpot area and have proved connectivity between the abandoned historic mine workings for both silver and gold.
The one grab sample taken during the soil sampling exercise yielded an assay of 27.4 grammes of gold per tonne of ore, 151 grammes per tonne of silver, and 0.1% copper. The sample was taken 100 metres north west of the existing Silver Bell workings, indicating that mineralisation continues to the north west of Silver Bell and towards the Mineral Jackpot mine.
The sampling has demonstrated that existing veins in the Mineral Jackpot area are well defined geochemically, Great Western Mining said, and are evidence of a previously undefined mineralisation between the Cabin Rock and Mineral Jackpot mines. Sampling also has shown continuation of Cabin Rock mineralisation towards the south east in a previously unexplored area.
Great Western Mining Chair Brian Hall said: "The successful sampling results announced today have fully justified the project and are an essential tool in the next steps which will be to trench and drill selected targets. We have also carried out extensive sampling over the Rock House area and expect to announce these results shortly, once analysis and internal review has been completed."
Shares in Great Western Mining were up 0.4% at 0.13 pence in London on Monday morning.
