Frontera Resources, the oil and gas company, says it has started new drilling operations at its Mtsare Khevi Field in Georgia.This is the beginning of a programme of drilling 20 new wells in the area which currently provides just 90 barrels of oil per day .According to the engineering firm Sewell & Associates the "best estimate" is that the field could produce 2.1 million barrels of oil and 1.5 billion cubic feet of gas.Frontera is aiming at getting capacity up to 5,000 barrels of oil per day by 2013.Steve Nicandros, Chief Executive, commented:  "The commencement of drilling operations, which began in August at the Mtsare Khevi Field, represents the launch of an exciting and extensive drilling campaign at this undeveloped, low-cost asset."BS
