Trump Effect Hits Latin American, Gold Funds In November - QuotedData

Tue, 13th Dec 2016 17:17

LONDON (Alliance News) -The best performing investment fund in November in price was Dolphin Capital after the sale of one of its properties strengthened its balance sheets.

However the majority of November's other winners were propelled by the election of Donald Trump as US president. Jupiter US Smaller Companies and JPMorgan Smaller Companies both benefited from positive expectations for the US economy, while International Biotechnology and Biotech Growth were boosted as the threat of stricter healthcare regulation under Hillary Clinton disappeared.

The losers from the election result included Golden Prospect and UIL as a more confident investment mood hit the price of gold. Emerging market funds were hit by fears of a Trump-instigated trade war, especially Latin American funds JPMorgan Brazil, BlackRockLatin American and Aberdeen Latin American.

Indian funds were also down in the month as the government's withdrawal of bank notes to combat corruption spooked investors, hurting India Capital, New India and JPMorgan India.
