(Alliance News) - DFS Furniture PLC said Monday it has appointed Jane Bednall as independent non-executive director effective January 1.
The retailer of living room and upholstered furniture said Bednall will be a member of the audit, nomination and remuneration committees.
Until recently, Bednall served as chief marketing officer for SSE PLC and has previously held senior leadership positions with Intercontinental Hotels Group PLC, Centrica PLC's British Gas and International Consolidated Airlines Group SA's British Airways.
The company said Bednall is also a current non-executive director of pub company EI Group PLC and a former non-executive director of Smart Energy GB Ltd.
Chair of DFS Ian Durrant said: "I am delighted to welcome Jane to the board. She brings significant and complementary experience of the marketing and retail industry to the board."
DFS shares were down 0.9% in London at 288.00 pence each on Monday.
