DDD Group Launches UPix "Ideal Selfie" App On Apple Products

Mon, 27th Jun 2016 09:18

LONDON (Alliance News) - DDD Group PLC on Monday said its UPix social photography app is now available for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad in the Apple app store.

The imaging company said UPix simplifies and improves the process of creating "the ideal selfie" by allowing the user to capture the optimal shot of the background scene with the rear-facing camera, and then overlaying their selfie image in the best position which is separately captured with the front-facing camera.

To accommodate differences in lighting between the rear and front-facing cameras, UPix includes the ability to adjust the colour and contrast of the two images for a natural looking picture, DDD said.

It also includes touch screen controls and a feature allowing friends to add themselves into the original selfie, as well as a feature where users can create and share selfies with their favourite musicians, actors and sports stars.

"Since launching the beta release of UPix in late February, we have continued to update and improve the app, adding more features in response to feedback from our users. The app is now available to the sizeable installed base of iOS and Android mobile phone and tablet users," Chief Executive Chris Yewdall said in a statement.

"We are also encouraged by the positive response we are receiving to the innovative app from handset manufacturers and we are already engaged in negotiations to introduce the UPix app into brand specific app stores which we expect will expand the reach of the UPix app beyond the Google and Apple app stores," he added.

Shares in DDD were trading down 6.7% at 0.350 pence on Monday morning.
