FTSE 250 movers: Crest Nicholson leads risers

Mon, 09th Jun 2014 14:05
Sustainable housing group Crest Nicholson rose strongly just days after the government announced measures to boost housing supply in the UK amid rampant house-price inflation. Integrated support services company Carillion was lifted by the news it's 50/50 joint venture (JV) with Lafarge Tarmac has been selected as one of the contractors on the Midlands Highway Alliance framework. The value of the framework to the JV is £100m across a three-year period, with the option to extend it by a further year to June 2018.Great Portland Estates was also on the up after Liberum Capital increased its target price from 686p to 737p, upgrading the stock to 'buy'.Derwent London climbed higher after the same broker shifted its target price from 2,885p to 2,891p and kept a 'hold' recommendation.Morgan Advanced Materials moved into positive territory after it revealed its German subsidiary, Morgan Deutschland Holding, has agreed to acquire insulation manufacturer Porextherm Dämmstoffe GmbH. The global materials engineering company said the addition will enhance its existing insulating systems portfolio. Heading the other way was Cable & Wireless Communications, with the appointment of a new Chief Financial Officer failing to lift shareholder spirit. Perley McBride, who is described as having "extensive experience" in the US telecom and technology sector, will take up the position on June 23rd. Thomas Cook Group investors ignored Berenberg's 'buy' recommendation, appearing instead to pay more attention to its warning that the industry "remains structurally challenged, with only a modest element of the significant cost cutting undertaken by TCG translating into higher profitability".
