RWS Holdings appoints easyJet's Julie Southern as chair designate

Wed, 27th Jul 2022 11:02

(Alliance News) - RWS Holdings PLC on Wednesday named Julie Southern as non-executive director and chair designate.

Southern will succeed Andrew Brode as chair of RWS in October 2023, at which time Brode will transition into a non-executive role. The technology-enabled language services provider added that Brode will remain committed to supporting the board and remain a significant shareholder in the company.

Southern, who will also become a member of RWS's audit committee, is currently a non-executive director at Rentokil Initial PLC, Ocado Group PLC, NXP Semiconductors NV and easyJet PLC, where she is also senior independent director. She has also previously held non-executive positions at DFS Furniture PLC and Cineworld Group PLC, where she chaired the respective audit committees.

The news follows the appointment of Ian El-Mokadem as its new chief executive officer and Candida Davies as its chief financial officer.

Commenting on Southern's appointment, Senior Independent Director of RWS Lara Boro said: "Her breadth of experience in executive and non-executive positions across a range of blue-chip businesses will be of great value to the board as the group capitalises on its unique platform to drive accelerated, sustainable organic growth, complemented by acquisitions."

Shares in RWS were down 0.4% to 359.40 pence each in London on Wednesday morning.
