Byotrol Reports Positive Interim Results On Pandemic-Driven Demand

Mon, 07th Dec 2020 14:10

(Alliance News) - Byotrol PLC on Monday reported interim pretax profit and revenue increases due to impact of the coronavirus pandemic, which saw its antimicrobial technologies and products in high demand.

The UK-based infection prevention and control company reported a swing to a pretax profit of GBP1 million in the six months ended September 30 from a loss of GBP635,000 year-on-year.

Revenue for the period was GBP6.7 million, more than double the figure of GBP2.2 million the year prior. Byotrol said its trading has been boosted by the Covid-19 outbreak, as the need for high performance biocides against viruses has dramatically increased and is now recognised as something that can work "in tandem with vaccines, drugs and hygiene practices."

Non-Executive Chair John Langlands said: "The business has delivered sustainable profits, benefitting from our long term strategy and of course the significant demand for our infection control products arising from the Covid-19 pandemic. Our employees all delivered under very difficult circumstances as we faced restrictions in movement and shortages in raw materials."

Looking ahead, Langlands said Byotrol "remains extremely well positioned to benefit from the long term demand for infection control products both during and following the pandemic." The company continues to expect future demand to "settle substantially above pre-Covid levels."

Shares in Byotrol were up 14% at 6.98 pence in London on Monday.
