HOUSTON, Feb 25 (Reuters) - Gasoline differentials climbed2.5 cents a gallon on Monday in the Los Angeles spot market as a102,500 barrel per day (bpd) gasoline-producing fluidiccatalytic cracking unit was delayed in its expected return toproduction at BP Plc's 240,000 bpd Carson, California,refinery, traders said.
A six-week overhaul on the FCC and alkylation unit has beenextended up to another two works, as the refinery foundadditional work was needed on the cat cracker, said sourcesfamiliar with operations at the refinery. The FCC had beenexpected to be back in production this week.
A BP spokesman declined to discuss operations at therefinery.
March-delivery CARBOB gasoline sold at 11 cents a gallonover April NYMEX RBOB gasoline in Los Angeles.
Gasoline gained 7 cents a gallon in the Portland, Oregon,market to 19 cents a gallon over NYMEX RBOB on the BP delay andupcoming maintenance by Tesoro Corp.'s Anacortes,Washington, refinery.
March CARB diesel fell 1.5 cents a gallon in L.A. at 13.5cents over April NYMEX heating oil. CARB diesel retreated 1 centin the San Francisco Bay market at 12 cents a gallon over AprilNYMEX heating oil.
Diesel in Portland rose 2.75 cents a gallon to 10.5 cents agallon over NYMEX heating oil.
