HOUSTON, Aug 16 (Reuters) - Flaring at BP Plc's 413,500 barrel per day (bpd) Whiting, Indiana, refinery onTuesday afternoon was due to a minor upset that did not affectthe week-long restoration of normal operations, sources familiarwith plant operations said.
The refinery was near normal production on Tuesday as BPreturns the wastewater plant to normal operation, the sourcessaid. A malfunction at the wastewater plant over the weekend ofJuly 30-31 contributed to higher than permitted amounts ofwastewater being released into Lake Michigan.
