I have read your post about the editing provision and think that it is a good suggestion. It's rather a pity that this facility does not exist on this site. A variant of being able to edit your post after it has been posted, is to have a "preview" facility such as the one Yahoo offers, which allows the material to be viewed as if it had been posted. If you are not satisfied with it, you can edit it until you are a happy bunny. Then you can post it. Whether the editing facility can be made available or not is most likely to depend on technical considerations but it certainly would make those of us who want to make a bit of an effort to get our spelling and presentation in order, very happy indeed.

The feature you mention is omitted on purpose. This helps guard against the possibility of people editing their previous posts to alter their meaning or look like they predicted something they didn't, etc.

The best way is to edit BEFORE posting. For longer contributions, I usually type it in WORD, then simply “cut and paste” into L.S.E.

most sites have a edit before/after postings as people can make statements that they want to ammend/ update after the posts, do not put people of by making them pay for a spelling or just geting there facts wrong ,that they can not ammend, why leave out on purpose, because the possibility of people editing after the event to make then look good is a cop out!!!1 all the big chat rooms >> advfn iii have this in place for there members and it is used on a reg basis. srry about any spelling mistake as we have no spell check ere like advfn iii have this in place

I am afraid that we won't slavishly follow our competitors and refer you to PB's excellent post on January 26th, above.

You can always immediately post again if you believe you have made a spelling or factual mistake...not a tremendous chore, surely? In some ways it lends more authenticity to posts if an error is admitted to in a separate post. We stand by our Jan. 26th post: "The feature you mention is omitted on purpose. This helps guard against the possibility of people editing their previous posts to alter their meaning or look like they predicted something they didn't, etc."

Could you not implement a timed edit feature that allows the user say 5min to edit the post / or until another user replies to the thread.

Having been a member of the LSE website for over a decade I would like to thank the LSE Admin/Moderator' s for providing this wonderful facility for investors to chat and also thank the members for their contributions and not least of all the civility in the main with which they treat one another.
Like ParioniaBlue I try to remember to compose in "Word" and then cut and paste, but being human my enthusiasm on occasions gets the better of me and it's not until after I have hit the post button that my typo or gibberish is glaring me in the face!
I can understand the moderators reasoning why an edit facility is not featured, however I am of a the same opinion to MoneyDan that a timed edit facility would retain the safeguards required by the moderator whilst providing a few minutes for members to correct typo's.
Thank you

Hi everyone,
It's been a long time coming but, we do have an Edit Post feature on our to-do list so users will be able to edit their posts within the first 5 minutes of posting. Hopefully we'll be able to get it added quite soon.
Thanks.
