LSE New Functions

Sunday, 23rd May 2010 19:00 - by Boredmum

I don’t know about you guys, but I have been finding it hard to keep up with the new functions that lse.co.uk are offering these days. I can only say that the team must be working flat out to improve the site. Of course, there is the ‘Blogs’ section where, along with Riddler and me, we have more qualified individuals in the form of an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA) and now the Naked Trader. Quite a coup, I would say. You have most likely noticed the new logo and functions at the top of the selected share page. I tend to use the Share Price pages, that give you details like market capital (I tend to find this site the most accurate compared to others), year high/low, market size (how many shares you can usually trade without having to take to the market makers), the shares in operation, and current sp. Ed: On an individual share's page, click ‘Stock Picker’ on the left-hand menu...and away you go.Director Deals’ is a relatively new feature. At a click, I can see the latest Director share purchases. The ‘Financial Diary’ will give you the date of previous news such as interims, trading updates, EGM’s, AGM’s, and drilling updates. The premium subscription service for prices shows the ‘Live’ logo next to them and I am finding this invaluable at the moment. I previously used other ‘free’ sites for live prices; ADVFN when I wasn’t timed out, and shareprice...when it was working (prone to freezing). This meant that I would have several pages open at once and when I was watching live prices I was missing out on chat, and vice-versa. Now I can follow chat on lse and my prices showing at the top of the page are completely live. If I want to see trade data, I can click on it and see the live trades come through and the ‘Live Share Price’ button shows me a smaller section of trades coming through live, along with information such as volume. Ed: My-LSE (under ‘Members’ on the left-hand menu) helps with this too. A handy dashboard function to bring the best of lse onto just one screen i.e. chat, prices, trades, etc. I have a section down the left hand side of my page with 15 company share prices that are showing up or down on the day and that is always there for me no matter what page I go to. Ed: When you are in an individual share page, simply click on the red ‘Pin’ icon and this will pin the price to the left of your screen (No. of picks allowed now increased to 20). Handy! There are many more features and functions and too many to speak about. I would be interested to hear what works or doesn’t for you. Oh, and of course, if you pay for any Premium Service you get to send private messages to other Members...great for cooking recipes, chatting or an insight into more detailed technical info!
