Wow - big volume today and this week actually. Corporate activity? At this price, Vodafone is definitely a target!
The sum of parts - evidenced by offers for Vantage Towers and Italian business alone - makes Vodafone susceptible to being bought and split up!
Enjoy the ride.
Well nice to finish the week in the blue guys, so Dan will you be having a peek in here each day on your holiday, be honest now, I will predict 135 for next Friday, can we have your guess before you go please and anyone else
Cheers
nice age????way past that now.....
Hi sotonspike. I am up at 3am tomorrow for my hol. In case some may think I am being a bit polite of late, I wouldn't want you lot talking about me behind my back?! Late 30's when I get back would be great, It's a nice age as well!
Thanks for your courteous reply Daniel and I don't mind banter. I know this share is heavily day traded for fractions of a % but I am a long term holder - and other boards actually bring some analysis to the table. We are all here to make money and when someone adds something to the board that actually supports the investment case or adds to the fundamentals of the investment I believe we should encourage it.
Hi Dan thought you were off on your hols.....guess your off later.....anyway have a good one and don't break anything while on the piste.....and yes when you get back this might in the mid to late 30's fingers crossed...
Paul. Sorry but I hope you don't mind me making a point here. I hold a lot of vod shares, & I am generally very positive, but I welcome posts from those who are negative, even if they don't hold, as long as they are not whinging about it. I am glad however, that you sound positive, & wish you all the best.
All hail Shuz for his post, but I think the the vod share news on this site beat him to it. I do think though with respect you may be taking this share chat a bit to seriously. If you want expert advice I think you need to go elsewhere, & surely a bit of banter is fine, as long as it is in good humour. Good luck ftse. All the best.
Trading bots probably going for some profit taking today?
Which I clearly do hold actually.
Have every right to be negative or positive .
All hail you Shuz for bringing some decent dialogue to this board. I rarely contribute meaningful information because it's not appreciated.....with the few opting for petty squabbles and meaningless banter.
This is a significant development - really shows how undervalued VOD is when their share of Vantage could be worth £12b!
losealot
You appear quite negative on VOD, but I have to question why you are posting to a bb for a stock which clearly you do not hold, only to tout other stocks that you hold.
While I have occasionally posted to bbs of stocks I don't hold, its rare and only when I am considering an investment, and to seek other views or ask questions.
I must admit to being dubious about your motives.
I do however wish you well with your investments.
welcome diversion rather than softening the blow.
Its hard to look to the future, but I feel if VOD can take advantage of the potential in new vehicle technology it has good growth potential over the next decade. It also is exposed to the developing African market which provide a good opportunity for growth. Much depends on the quality of the BOD.
While I'm waiting the dividend is a welcome diversion.
we are all here to make, hence sharing info.
I agree with the risk element and took my original investment out as it cant sustain that growth.
Growth seems to be vod problem though.
Thanks but BEN does not fit my risk profile, and I have a couple of mining stocks already which I wouldn't exchange for a new kid on the block like BEN.
I tend to give a wide birth to investments that appear to increase wealth at an unusual rate, 30 years of investing has taught me that risk while part of the game requires management.
I am glad you have done well with BEN and long may it continue, I always like to see folks make money.
Have a look at BEN I bought in january up 200%.
I've held UKW since Dec 2020, it's been kind so far, and would agree it is a decent long term hold, I like TRIG also, boths stocks held in equal measure, aquired at same time.
Including dividends and unrealised profit, UKW shows me a 25.8% gain with TRIG showing a 6.77% gain. I think over time they will even out.
VOD was aquired in Nov 2020 and again including dividend and unrealised profit, shows a 6.46% gain. For me the jury is still out on how this will perfom for me long term, but I want 2 telcoms stocks so chose this and AAF.
AAF I aquired in June 2021, sold a lump on a spike and later increased my holding on a dip. Including dividends, realised and unrealised profits, it shows me a 38.38% gain. I like its exposure to such a developing market, but geographically it carries risk I am not entirely comfortable with, but as is often the case that risk also brings potential gains.
In response to the reference to GLO, my view its a dependable dividend stock and worth consideration, I hold 8568 shares at an average (including taxs/costs) of £1.8670. This I think was an error on my part, as being with the stock since Dec 2021, I think a better price could have been had closer to if not just below £1.80. Its currently trading around £1.90, but with a little patience it may be had in the £1.80 to £1.85 range.
I like VOD long term despite some of the mistakes the previous BOD made, like the blooper with the Mannesmann takeover in the early 2000s. I still believe that in a diversified portfolio VOD has a place as a long term hold and as long as the dividends remain worthwhile I will continue to hold, I am unlikly to add more without evidence of some very strong leadership from the current BOD. That said if you are on the lookout for a telecoms element in your portfolio, you could do a lot worse. I think with a bit of work and patience an entry below £1.24 is possible and should serve you well.
Hi sotonspike, thanks for that, will take a look at those, and let's hope we have a good friday finish
Best of luck

Hi Rob...just a follow on from my last post....you may want to have a look at IUKD and GLO i hold both don't go on my recommendation but both pay a good dividend and quarterly ....one is an etf the other an energy stock well have a look not sure what your looking for whether growth or an income....
Cheers Rob And Dan....yes nice to meet some people who are willing to converse without negativity....i mean everyone has an opinion and everyone is right from there side....guessing if your on the forum then you hold shares ...we're all in it together....hoping for a good rise in the coming months then consolidate average of £1.29 with the last divi.....Rob as for UKW i see this as along term hold.... good divi and things are looking up with the way things are in other parts of Europe
Hi sotonspike, I noticed your invested in ukwind ukw, how do you see that one going over the next 12 months
cheers
Hi Dan, as I said mate some things are beyond our control, of course we can still discuss the share price, been reducing a few of my funds that have been draining lately some have been doing ok though, and holding a bit in cash for the unexpected, things have been rising a bit this week and a few of my shares are going ex div soon so will probably reinvest the dividends, Vodafone has been making small gains this week as well which is good, let's hope it continues when your enjoying your holiday, Inflation is going to be a concern though I think and hit peoples pockets, I did give sotonspike a recommend for his pleasant reply, hope we finish on a high tomorrow 127 my guess
Thanks robleo. Nice to get a friendly response. It is also nice to see the vod sp having a good run lately. As for the war, this is not a matter that I am prepared to discuss on this forum, but I fail to see why we can't still discuss the vodafone share price, as long as we do it in a constructive, sensitive way. I am totally baffled by the attack that was made on sotonspike, but to his praise he just rose above it. But good luck to you, I hope the sp goes up tomorrow, & then I will probably ignore it for a week. So I am hoping for 1.40 when I get back from my skiing holiday, the 1st in over 2 years, due to covid. I normally go 2 or 3 times a year. It's just not fair?!! moan, moan, moan!!
