Hello Gary. Interesting post by you, But could you please explain 2 things. 1st the buy back is part of the program as explained in yesterdays r.n.s to stop further share dilution so vod have no choice. What is this about issuing shares to it's employees?. That is standard practice in most companies isn't it ? but of course those shares will be worth less now. Do you think these promised shares should not be given to vod's employees? That would go down well. Germany is of course a big problem, but not sure if fiasco is the right word though, very difficult trading conditions I would call it, not to mention Russia of course? Thank you if you can clarify a bit more. Cheers mate.
Todays fall is down to the fact that the stock market has digested the fiasco in Germany & the subsequent loss of customers in Vodafone's most important market.
Although I sold my shares at 1.39 & 1.31 I miss VOD & will buy in again when I'm happy with the price.
I get no satisfaction in the current decline but I can only see this drifting one way & sadly that's down, sorry guys but this for me is a trading stock now.
Biggest daily fall since may 2021 - its ok though Read knows what he is doing - hes milking his salary and bonuses and taking the shareholders as mugs !!!
VOD currently buying back millions of its own shares (& making a big thing of it) & now going to issue millions more to give to the BOD (who also get millions in salaries) & employees. Is it any wonder the SP is down 4% as I type.
Mikey you should have stayed & your holding may have increased 100% to 2 shares.
Given divi being paid out in a week or so this drop is good news as long as temporary.
Looks like the usual pattern will play out - yoyo between 110 and 130p
Wow million dollar question - when is it going to stop - after several weeks of false hope in the £1.20’s seems we are heading back to the £1.10’s yet again - its ok though - Read is commited to provide value to shareholders
Thank you Dan for the drink offer. I tend to avoid alcohol (although one day my VOD share holding will depress me so much that I will relapse) but for now I'll drink a glass of water to your good health.Cheers!
Sorry guys ignore that, wrong place lol
Not sure, howard is not in today, he said about the measuring mistake, but did he say, he or we ? I don't know, i don't trust him
One thing is for sure Dan, there is nothing we can do to change anything , as you said to me, grin and bear it or sell up, not expecting anything special from any of my share this year, but as long as the dividends keep coming, will pool them all together and try and put them to a good use
Sorry for typo's. For would read could & for if course read of course. I though I would get a couple more mentions in of Read, before he gets the sack, He's my hero you know??
Seems the markets had faith in what Read said at the AGM NOT - nothing new there then
OakLodge. If I could buy you a drink I would. That is probable the best, most intelligent post I have ever read (pun intended) on here, apart from some of mine if course (Joking of course). As Robleo says, I have a lot of patience, probably my only virtue? A bad day today though so far, but fleccy would argue that is good thing for vod's share buy backs. I don't agree with him on that, but it is an interesting point. Have a great week. As robleo says, investing should be fun, so I hope he keeps up the Friday sp guess. T.F.I. Friday.
Looks like todays the day we start the decline back down . It does it usual staying fairly stable for a few weeks and then just as you think it maybe moving upwards into a new range - boom . Can i do a july 2023 forecast - £1.16 with read still saying they are looking to consolidate and he intends returning value to shareholders - oh and Dan still kissing Reads arse
I see three price cuts on Vodafone today .
Yep - two questions already on the share price - dont worry Read says he is committed to improving returns - oh sorry I think that is his usual response for the last three years .
There is the annual general meeting now ongoing?
From what I read (pun not intended) in this chat the impression is formed that people seem to think that CE Nick Read is solely responsible for strategy, performance and results. But what about the role of the VOD board and its committees? In large companies such as Vodafone, the board’s role is to provide entrepreneurial leadership within a framework of effective controls which enable risks to be assessed and managed. The board establishes the company’s purpose, values and strategy and satisfies itself that these and its culture are in alignment. It is responsible for ensuring the necessary resources are in place for the company to meet its objectives and for measuring performance against them. The board is accountable for promoting the long-term sustainable success of the company, generating value for shareholders and contributing to wider society.
So it seems a stretch to heap all of VOD’s woes onto Read’s shoulders. He is just a large cog in the works and the board as a whole must share in collective responsibility. In any case changing CEOs doesn’t necessarily result in improvement. Other factors play a larger part. Taylor Wimpey recently appointed a new CE, who is a good manager, but the share price has nose-dived regardless. As for Read’s remuneration you could certainly say that 3 million is a lot of money but hardly higher than the FTSE 100 average salary. Moreover, compared to some chaps who kick a ball around on a Saturday afternoon or play golf or tennis, it’s peanuts. Call it the ‘unacceptable face of capitalism’ if you like.
Well there's nothing like a CEO debate to rattle Dan's cage, but is he right possibly or possibly not, but after 20 years waiting for the sp to rise, i definitely think he deserves a gold medal for his Patience, investing should be fun guys, but some shares are more fun than others if you know what i mean, I thought about selling up here many times, but it just would be nice to see it pass the £1.50 mark first, I live in hope, quite happy to wait a bit longer, so come on nick pull your finger out lol
play nicely guys
And now you say I have mental problems - wow you really stoop to new lows - pretty much expected from you though .
Cheapshareboy. I think you are right, & I suspect his job with vodafone may have been involved in that. I feel very sorry for Mikey, but this is not the right forum for ex vod employees, with mental health issues. & of course you are right, it is no joke, but all on here who support Mikey are just making it worse.
No the second bit was me - you say people talk rubbish on here yet you post that **** haha oh well .
Oh and you reply to posts of mine that arnt addressed to you - or is that another rule of yours on this BB .
Long live Read .
Cheapshareboy. He only has one share (seriously) So it would cost more to sell, than to hold.
I think he has some mental health issues.
I’m not joking
All the best Dan & holders, Cheap
Mikey. I will explain it to you slowly. The comment of yours that I can not make any sense of is. Quote "Any you say other people on her talk rubbish. Ha ha you carry on believing. God save our gracious read-long live our noble Read, God save our Read, altogether now" . Nothing to do any quote of mine. Mikey, you are on another planet, but I wish you luck. Cheers mate. Give it a rest though, for your own sanity. If you insist on responding to my posts, at least wait until they are to you, not somebody else.
