With the acquisitions of two highly cash generative companies on board in as many months, the two companies look very fast growing. I particularly like the centurian automotive business. Haven’t seen any figures yet, but this acquisition has all the fingerprints of GC on it. Yes both companies brilliant with the rump business powering on behind. Won’t be too long before share price starts to reflect this, in any event ahead of march accounts..........
Despite press gloom headlines the Barkby groups opening three months look excellent.....what we are witnessing here is a management team of exceptional ability..... occupancy rates rising dramatically in July and August... the team has implemented new controls and management systems....... best of all the company is now debt free.... New properties have been presented to Barkby.
Those with foresight would do well to research. DYOR. Make no mistake with this super team ,we will grow profitably this year and very quickly........
The downside here at the moment is the share price fall from 9p opening on very thin trading and mostly investors trapped here from the sma days. The positive here is when the news flow starts the scramble in on a thin market ie little stock and the price will rise very quickly..It must be remembered that Rome wasn’t built in a day but certainly no mining company with years to wait......
I've never owned a share in NEX before, and it's even more mysterious than AIM! I never thought that would be possible, so you live and learn.
I've mentally written off my losses here, but still have a bit of faith that this will come good so I've kept my holding.
Anything from here is a gain, and I hope it turns out well, which it may well do.
It's not a total loss which it could so easily have turned into.
This was only to be expected from the pent up pressures from a defunct mining company with shed loads of frustrated investors itching to jump ship after so many years. However, As I have said before , this company will be rapidly grown with the team now in place. We are now three months down line, and when acquisitions start to flow and they will, the share price with its sharp consolidation will start to rise rapidly. I have to say I totally agree with poiu concerning returning to the aim for better trading. Also very interested to read about experiences of recent visit and the air of excitement. Giles Clarke will never time waste in marginal , they are always multi baggers , this one will be no exception.
Just for your info, I have sold my holding. It may do well in due course, but think, rightly or wrongly, we may have to wait a while. They have to get the two existing pubs into profit first and based on the last Accounts, I think that that may take a year or more.
GL all
If anyone has any doubts about the way ahead for this business i suggest you go to the pubs involved, there is a definite air of anticipation of the company really doing good things. Expansion is clearly in the air and if this summer carries on at this rate they will have very good books to trade ahead from.
I agree with fortitude in that there are so many high flyers in this new mix, and some decently positioned pubs that they will turn this round fairly quickly. My guess is they will list back to AIM as soon as they have a good plan in their sights, if you look at the main people involved here they have connections throughout the South West in hospitality. Clarke has loads of tea shops there and heaven knows he is able to roll out successful ideas, Sparrow is a master at raising money and Fraser an expert at finding business assets to strip, he also is a non-exec with the company voted as Brewery Of the Year in 2015.
They havent put themselves together to lose money on this venture, my guess is they will move very rapidly now the mechanism is in place. Emma Dark is clearly the whip cracker and looks a good solid choice for FD. The enxt few bits of news should be very interesting.
Hi. SP7
For me and I underline for me , I would definitely not sell ,till if you wish, you see a good profit. I believe as I have said before the team in place , is very impressive and I see rapid growth ahead. After your long haul here , I would hold all and reap the harvest. You deserve the rewards. Good luck !
Hi Fortitude.
On paper I am down 69%. Big question is whether to sell and move on or stay for possible recovery over the next 2 years as the company buys up other pub/restaurants to turn them around.
Underestimate the strength of this board. The rewards will be rich pickings for the patient. This is no mining company wait !
A heck of a lot of work has gone into this and i cannot help noticing the connection the directors have with finding and financing the buyout of distressed properties in the industry, why have these top rated guys come together to spend this much time if not for a good reason, is anyone going to the meeting on the 22nd i think?
For every 33 shares in SMA you now have 1 in Barkby Group
Now Barkby on the Nex Exchange https://www.nexexchange.com/member?securityid=2074812
Will have to use a broker who deals in NexExchange shares.
Tomorrow the new shares will trade under the Bark name, does anyone know how these can be traded, just buy via a registered broker as per usual i guess?
Thanks a lot for that If there's no dilution I'm happy enough. I will happily help to boost their sales. Anyone know what ales they have? Looks like Volcanic aren't going anywhere with the Mandiana project. Problems with local partner and share price has tanked. Happy enough to move on.
I have been away recently, to everyones relief ! ! I too dont see any dilution here. A straight xchange 33 to 1. Having had time to read through the details of the deal it has all the fingerprints of GC on it. I like very much the team being put together here and once again remind everyone that the skills of GC is his remarkable ability to choose multi bagging products and and then the right people with the right credentials to run it. Put together it works every time. I think its his poker playing brain ! What has been in the old company will bear no resemblance to the future company. I was lucky enough to have invested in majestic wine in the early days and made a small fortune so I know what he can do. I know of no failures to date,do you? Hope you stay on board post launch !
Like you i have never had a share certificate but this one just turned up one day after the company had de-listed. On Friday i got onto my broker who tried to find out if the ISIN number in the prospectus was connected to anything he could find on the platform he uses for trading but nothing doiing. Naturally one supposes that after June 26th the EPIC code will trace anything on NEX.....I am actually very excited about this because it links in with all the main players, Clarke has really good hospitality connections along with his historical Majestic Wines which gives him clear links to the Liqour trades. Rupert Fraser has very good Brewery links as well as huge experience in buying up poorly run businesses. Then of course the Chef and Emma Dark with her previous links to the trade they are all now focusing on. Just love the set up, when Clarke talks about 'roll out' he really does understand it having done it twice already with huge success. Duncan Harvey is the whip cracker on site so the team does seem to be extremely capable, focused and ready. What a turn round for our SMA holdings, nice one Cyril.
I don't know about share certificates as I have never seen or owned one. I deal through Halifax on line, and I held shares in a company that was subject to a reverse takeover some 12 months or so ago, and everything just transferred over without any input or form filling. I expect the same here. The new shares will just automatically appear in your portfolio.
That is how i read it too, every one should have been sent the share certificate some time ago for SMA and now the name change will result in the new Ticker BBs etc as from the 26th June. I guess then the share certificate has to be given to a broker and then can be traded any one have any idea as to procedure to be able to trade the new number of shares given one is holding the old SMA certifcate?
Nomz, We will receive 1 new share for 33 old ones at the new price of 9p per share. Your percentage holding in the new company will remain the same and is not being diluted. That's my understanding anyway but I stand to be corrected on that. In addition, all the fractions of shares resulting from the consolidation will be added together and sold, with the proceeeds going to the new company. So my 0.46 of a share will help a little! Regarding SMA, it was going nowhere. At least we now have a chance of recouping our current losses, not only with the growth of the company resulting in an increasing share price, but also from dividends. That, of course, remains to be seen, but having read the prospectus I'm quietly optimistic about our future at the moment. They may well open a pub near me given their target locations, so maybe I'll get to try their offerings at some point.
Stpeter So how much do we get for our SMA shares? I couldn't understand that document!! Rather disappointed that a company with a 600,000oz gold resource has morphed into a company with 3 pubs...
Thanks addicknt for bringing it to my attention. I now know how many shares I will be left with in Barkby and their value based on the placing price. I note that they are seeking to add a fourth gastropub shortly. They certainly appear to have their work cut out to turn the business to a profitable one based on the last Accounts. We shall see.
I have no interest in this situation other than these pubs are my locals. Five Alls is okay and popular. Personally, I don't like it. The Plough is my favourite local. Great place, great staff and food. The Bull is terrible. Sebastian Snow is pretty good at what he does, but I'm not at all convinced this formula can be rolled-out. Mind you, if he manages to take a bunch of pubs from Arkells (the worst brewer in Britain) then this will be a good thing. He is facing some seriously good local opposition and success is by no means a given.
