I can still remember a fair bit of fanakalo and some Afrikaans. As a Scotsman with a heavy accent I was often mistaken for an Afrikaaner and spoken to in Afrikaans. One of my African co workers complained about me .He said I could not speak Afrikaans, fanakalo or English.
Tried learning Fanakalo and Afrikaans, but I'm lousy (lazy? LoL!) at languages. Fortunately English was well understood there! Great job and employer (AAL,SA) there, but geo-mapping sometimes in raises and stopes up to 60deg angles a bit hairy! Found a 'missing' piece of reef between faults surveyed at 33,000 cm g/t Au (~300g/t). They walled it up until the Au price dropped! Came back early after wife's health failed and the kids had a near miss with a few bullets! The great family adventure had a few downsides!!! Like shares, you can't win them all!
Regards, R.
Can you speak fanakalo?
ERPM Boksburg, then moved to Mozambique to work for Shaftsinkers on the Cabora Bassa dam project (three of my mates there came up from Harmony Gold to work. One was killed in the tunnels.),Then went up to Botswana to the Orapa diamond mine then up to Zambia to Chingola to the copper mines.Made a quantum leap to Aussie and ended up in the Solomon Islands working for Rio Tinto on the Bougainville mine.(150k tonnes copper 1 million ozs. silver and 500,000ozs gold per annum. My lungs are worth a few bob in scrap.
Western Holdings in OFS. What hole did you have the misfortune to end up at?
What mine did you work in RH?.
Samson, ("......it's a question of how hard it is to get to the gold rich seams.") it's just a single, sub-vertical vein (though there are known extensions) that is planned to be mined. See the mining plan at:
https://www.scotgoldresources.com/projects/cononish-project/#cononish-gold-and-silver-mine
Baz is right about selective resource management in South African mines (the mine I was at had over 300 working places!), but there are fewer options at Cononish and we don't know how far/where development has progressed. It is likely that the priority just now is to develop the nearest/most convenient stope to the entrance and just above the main adit in order to expand production rate soonest. Choice of stopes and grades may have to wait until development is further progressed. Hope that helps.

Tyndrumbhoy? Heard a rumour he changed his name by deed poll to Terry Munro. He's plenty active enough liking and replying on his Twitter anyway.
High grade ore can be removed before low grade ore. This practice is used in South Africa where the low grade ore is extracted during high prices and the High grade ore is extracted when the price is low this balances and extends the life of the mine. This mine not be advantagious to Cononish though. Negativety? moi? lol.
RH, the old adage, ''Don't mistake luck for skill'' is alive and kicking.
Afternoon all.
"The impression I get is that he was like an armchair general sipping brandy in the comfort of the chateaux miles behind enemy lines......" Samson, his armchair was in the farmhouse at the bottom of the road to the mine less than a mile away and in site of what was happening.
Baz, TB's last post was on thread "Silence is not golden." maybe he'll pop up again when it is? If you had traded SGZ well, you could have had a multi-bagger, or if like me a one-bagger when I got my timing right! LoL!
As I said last week, " There's always Monday."
Have a good weekend all, R.
In 15 years Scotgold will be pleased to announce that Cononish is now moving on to phase two.
Or first there was one mine then two then three mines tick tock. lol Never say never: isn't it the case for that to happen the clock has simply to keep ticking for another 15 years?
Come on, Scotgold!
'Where's Tyndrumbhoy gone?''.He has gone to ground on the other place as well. There is only so long that you can defend the indefensible. The jig is up. Most people on here are now hoping that things improve enough to get their money back. The days of dreaming about 1 bagger 2bagger,3 bagger are gone.Or first there was one mine then two then three mines tick tock.
Where's Tyndrumbhoy gone? In various guises he was alway a good source of information about what was happening on the ground.
Is it telling that no one sought to change the title of this thread? Probably best just to leave it as it us until Sunday at least.....and then until the 31st May.........................
'I don't think RG knew what was really going on''. Samson, this is Scotgold not De beers or Anglo American.Of course he knew what was going on or in this case not going on.There were more board members than workmen, he knew alright.
'Keep your hat on Baz. Is your memory failing?'' How much memory do I need to remember 1 oz.?It has cost 28 million so far for that 1 oz not very economical.
".......a decade of nowt." Keep your hat on Baz. Is your memory failing? We have gained PP, an enlarged mine and a shiny new process plant. Rather like your promising football team losing to an own goal in stoppage time. I'm sure you know the feeling! Will there be a return leg?
Yayay, take care what you say about Nippy. or she might partition DG to England to gerrymander an independence vote!
Regards, R.
"Lying through his teeth"? Come, come, Baz. Don't forget "Today's news is therefore a landmark event both for the Company and for Scotland".
A landmark event for Scotland. But I bet Herself is now thanking her lucky stars that the Bute House broomstick was in for its annual service and MOT on 30 November.
The PD euphoria seems to have fizzled out. We are approaching the middle month of the year with not a bit of cheer. No wonder RG used to stutter during interviews,he was lying through his teeth.I have to take my hat of to them to have collected wages for a decade of nowt.My own belief that had reappeared in December is melting in the spring frost.
Maybe using an ouija board to get an idea of what's going on is worth a try.

Hopefully she'll soon have some Scottish Gold from Cononish to go in it soon!
GLA, R.
A splendid, sunny day near the N. Yorks coast, but that's all of the news!
No SG news, so no mark up of the ask, but the bid has just dropped, so maybe the MMs are getting short of shares?
FOTF, so many questions, but no answers likely, as amounts and prices of shipments likely commercially and security sensitive. Day to day operations don't require an RNS unless exceptional and PR and the market likely not high SG priorities. So I guess wait for an end of month report and go and enjoy the sunshine with crossed fingers while the PoG hits £1330.
Regards, R.
No more POG updates from me, meaningless in the context of SGZ currently!
Taking a couple.of weeks off.
GLA
PD...
did we ship?
how much did we ship and at what price?
are we a producer now and if so what amount and when is next shipment?
Review???
A great opportunity to take advantage of the rising gold price..
and some investors returning to gold...providing we have something positive (for a change) to share with the market.
Frustrating :(
