Thanks for the comments about the pneumonia vaccine - I keep an eye on an elderly neighbour who has a constant stream of health visitors and have suggested the option to her & her family.
As the BBC New's resident GP said this morning the best COVID defence is cleaning your hands etc, the next best step to take is to have received the Flu jab as COVID has most been severe on people with a compromised immune system.
Dr surgery only for the 23 version
Boots pharmacy will only inject the 13 version privately ..
and i suggest those concerned should get that jab asap ... probably have to go Private if you don't meet NHS criteria probably about £70
Thanks
C7
check which vaccine you have received ..
it was probably Pfizer 13 variant which is what they gave me .. just checked
but you should get the Merck version which is 23 variants as an upgrade ..
easy way round that ... get yourself arrested
You are then the states responsibility ..
"Fauci previously told CNN that researchers could expedite the approval process for a vaccine following a successful Phase 1 trial in an attempt to halt the spread of the virus.
But even when proceeding at an "emergency speed," a vaccine would not be available for use for at least a year or 18 months, he said Tuesday."
Correct, and that is why I say there is a lot of conflicting information., which doesn"t surprise me as they are still finding so much out. Some say go to your GP some say don"t and self isolate. I think Donald Trump has called it right, get on with it!!
Moderna of mnra fame have produced a vaccine that is ready for testing on volunteers.

Inancano, I have read previous government directives re pandemics sent to senior medical/nursing staff. There are very clear admission "stages" , basically when it becomes a pandemic anyone over 50 can forget hospital treatment. Medical and nursing staff are granted legal protection and are granted special powers.
trust what is Known ...
Inan, that is why the Goverments policy is contain and delay, so when the traditional flu season is over the will have more hospital beds. Interestingly for the first time I heard them say by then hopefully there will be a vaccine. Articles I have seen have suggested it could take a year to find a suitable treatment. So yes there is a lot of conflicting information.
The Pneumovax 23 covers twenty three different variants of the pneumococcal bacteria. In healthy adults, revaccination is not indicated (necessary). Patients with underlying chronic disease should probably be revaccinated every 5 years.
just spotted that 5 years
mmmmmmmmmmm worth a booster
Yeah I did, and for the first time The District Nurses came in November, the last few years not until Jan/February.
Funny enough,as ever, I was really ill after having it for a few weeks, which is always the case, but every consultant, oncologist or Doctor I see say there is no connection to the jab and any after effects that arise. Every so often even with taking anti-biotics 24/7, two different types I need to go in to hospital for a few days to be given intravenous boosts. The remarkable thing is , apart from needing occasional boosts, they still work on me, long may that continue.
C7, I'm sure you have been given it, but you can get a pneumonia vaccine jab from your GP, it will cover most strains of pneumonia.
Well disappointed this morning, the snow that was promised hasn"t materialised, but replaced by
heavy rain, what"s new.
Still not wasted time, Sky News showed a Coronavirus Outbreak Special, and it explained very well what we need snd should know. It might well end up a pandemic, the trouble is countries have to prepare for worst case scenarios, but what concerned me was the advice being given to us all is in large contradictory, and the U.K still has just 13 cases confirmed of which nobody has died (yet).
Stlill for us older ones, the flu is our biggest challenge, simply as LL explained her father passed with pneumonia, something I had 3 times in a short period 8 years ago and spent many weeks in Intensive Care as a result. So wash your hands, carry on, we are nothing but stoic, and don"t panic Captain Mainwaring as it seems many are trying to do.
By the time they covered the floods around the country, I felt I was watching the Doomsday Book, which is probably why I choose to catch the news on a Sunday, Breaking News updates are sufficient for me all week.
Very little to read into the market this week here, except trades are few and far between, and as a result no real pressure on the Bid or Ask, as we are seeing. It wasn"t so long ago we got news, and I just wonder if in this aim market which is so dependant on news, whether you can ever get enough news to keep the momentum flowing?? But things change very quickly on AIM, as we know, news can arrive anytime, lets hope we get the rub of the green. Have a good day all.
