see Ryanair reported today profits of 211 million as against 88 million in their best pre covid period.
Passenger nos 7% higher than pre covid. record passenger nos of 38.4million for October-December 230 new routes.
All is very well in the land of Ryanair and living up to it's above headed Subject Name.
Well Doug it is 36 degrees here and has been all week. Why anyone with enough money to be able to live in the sunshine during those desperate winter months in the UK doesn’t is beyond me.
Airlines have had a super week and I feel the good times will continue. I see the posters pretending to buy BOO shares have gone a little quiet on here (well almost)
Off to Eswatini for 5 days now. Beautiful people and very peaceful. Plus excellent golf courses.
Keep warm.
Brrrrr. Still cold, grey and wet in UK. Temperature up to 6 degrees but 'feels like' only 1 degree. Heating the house costing a small fortune. Not long now until sunny Tenerife, thank God.
Doomster,
I am sure you will be delighted to see BIRG trading at €10 and AIB at €4 (4 cents shy) .
Up 757% and 500% respectively from their April 2020 lows , reaching their peak 18 years ahead of the Motley Fool's headline star, Microsoft.
Keeping my fingers crossed that your star performer/recommendation, Boohoo, reaches your publicised projected price of 60p by march ( you never said it to be march 2023 or any year !).
Keep investing on the Moon - you certainly won't lose .
Well after a journey that lasted for ever I am now settled in S.A. and it is hot. Terminal 5 at Heathrow was packed and back to the bad old days. Two A380’s flew down to Jnb. Wednesday night and ours carried 440 pax.
Look Doug the weather in Puerto de La Cruz will be a million dollars compared to the UK but the South is warmer and sunnier this time of year. I like it very much in the north and there is plenty to do. Enjoy it.
JH should at least buy some imaginary shares like he did in BOOHOO but he hasn't got the bottle. BTW booked my holiday for Tenerife (Puerto de la Cruz) - can't wait to get out of this freezing, wet, windy, grey country. Brrrrr - high of 3 degrees C today. Booked flight with Easyjet - cost a bit more than RYA but well worth it.
Well this is my last day (partial) on the Island and late today it is Jet 2 out of here, brief visit to the smoke tomorrow and then the 380 down to S.A. Wednesday night. The weather here has been magnificent over the last six months and I have no doubt in stating it is the most consistent anywhere in the world. I have been in telecoms this morning and my contact in the north of England told me it was -10 first thing. I could never get used to that weather again.
Airline stocks have had a good start to the year and I only see brighter days ahead. JH. Maybe you will buy some soon but I doubt it.
All have a nice life.
How come the Damascus conversion - on BIRG Board all your post is fake purchase/fake profits etc.
However, as well in profit now shall let it ride for a spell ans see where it takes me. Would be nice if your 60p prediction by march comes about.
Proves ONCE AGAIN Investment is all about timing.
Too right , gas meter man is getting well slaughtered on BOO board. He's crying over 11 up ticks for me calling him out as a troll and trying to get all my posts deleted. Aw , poor DayDreamer.
BOO up 18% in 2 days. Good advice from me JH telling you to buy BOO and well done for ignoring DayTrade's negative bile.
Anyway , BOO now @45p JH - your sell price if I remember. Have you sold? Me, I'm holding for more.
RYA up today too - a little bit.
And there I was ,Doomster, convinced you had invested on the moon, seeing you cannot get it to work on Planet Earth
JH. So splash out and buy some shares.
My time on the Island is coming to an end this trip and after dropping off in the smoke on Tuesday and depositing my Krugers in my safe deposit box it is off to SA for a couple of months on Wednesday. I placed an order for 30 Krugers three weeks ago (taking a chance as 15 is the limit) and lo and behold the price of gold has increased by £100/oz in that time. Easy money.
Airline shares have had a very good week and I am bullish for the future.
I see the gas meter reader is getting smashed over on the Boo bb. Serves him right for posting where he is not invested.
"Travel demand is correlated with GDP trends but after worst ever recession for airlines(covid) a combination of pent up demand and supply constraints could lead to to an upgrade cycle. Operating leverage means that these upgrades could be material while valuations remain at pre covid levels (which were already low).
Ratings, earnings, and direction of travel can beat the macro news in this sector.
Our top picks are the low cost carriers (LCCs).Ryanair and Wizz followed by Network carriers IAG and Lufthansa".
Ryanair held conference in Italy yesterday where MOL on very strong booking patterns for thee summer when passenger volumes expected to exceed pre covid levels. He reiterated 165 mill passengers for 23 and 185 million for 2024.
On a similarly totally unrelated to RYA theme, my investments in China have done very well the last 2 months.
John Hume-iliated - please stay on topic.
Doomsteer,
delighted to see the s/trader at 43.99p today as it means I am very close to my exit figure of 45p plus. as posted already bought 20000 at 38p for an interest.
Also sold my Kingspan this morning at €58. Very happy with my €10k profit having bought in at €48 - as against your bottle figure of €51.
At least the 13% rise today is the beginning of your long recovery journey to a 1000% rise in SP to break even
DT
just flipping through Google site today and came across this message from the £soothsayers" in Motley fool extolling the virtues of Microsoft, saying if you invested $1000 in Microsoft on 10/1/2001 you would have $8690 today-gain of 760% in 22 years. The fools dont appear to realise you would have done the same with BIRG in 2.5 years. just proves they are aptly named.
what is purpose of your post?
Will flights to European ski resorts this winter be affected ?
-----
"Disappointed skiers claim they've been refused 'no snow' refunds after arriving on melted slopes.
This winter has been a major wash out on a large number of Alpine mountains due to the unseasonably warm weather.
Half of the slopes in France are closed due to a lack of snow, with resorts in the northern Alps and French Pyrenees affected. Ski resort Ax 3 Domaines was forced to temporarily close, while the likes of Le Gets and Morzine have only opened a limited number of runs. Issues on the slopes have affected resorts across Europe. And it’s not just the Alps, either. The Pyrenees, Vosges and Jura mountain ranges have also seen far less snow than they’d typically get."
DT,
see Ryanair now heading for €15 today. should lock passengers in the corridors more often.
wonder why 160 million passengers, including yourself, fly Ryanair.
If you consider them the pits why fly Ryanair. Have you any pride ?
JH.
Just as I thought your number 1 airline in the world reference was a porkie. Obviously you have been picking up tips from the gas meter reader. The rating organisation for airlines is Skytrax and they have Ryanair as a three star airline. This means that all airlines given four and five stars (plenty of them) are ahead of Ryanair.
Puzzles me why you post on this site as you are shareless and always will be.
Dozens of passengers missed their Ryanair flight as they were left locked in an airport corridor - only being released when they began shouting and banging on the walls to be let out.
The incident happened on Monday at London Stansted Airport when 23 passengers for a flight to Zagreb filed into a corridor after showing their boarding passes and passports at the gate.
But after the corridor was locked at both ends, they became concerned, allegedly banging on the walls and screaming for help, before setting off the fire alarm to be rescued.
But by that point the flight had already departed - with all the passengers' bags on board.
Ryanair said the issue was caused by a human error by handling staff.
Devina Raval, 33, a passenger booked on the flight, said: "We showed our passes and passport then we were led down an escalator where I joined a queue in an L-shaped corridor.
"This was about half an hour before our flight was due to take off so we waited for 10-15 minutes before we started looking at each other thinking something was wrong.
"People were banging on the walls calling for help, it felt like we were being held hostage or something.
"There were kids crying and the whole place became really claustrophobic.
"I dread to think what would have happened if someone had a heart attack or something."
After around 30 minutes, someone pulled the fire alarm at which point a member of staff arrived and asked them what they were doing stuck in the corridor.
Ms Raval said: "At that point I was just shocked that they hadn't realised we were there. We were told the plane had left without us.
"From there we were sent traipsing around the airport for three hours as we found out that all of our luggage had been sent to Zagreb without us.
"The worst part was that we didn't get so much as a sorry. Everyone was absolutely furious."
The passengers were put in a nearby hotel overnight and put on the next flight at 6am on Tuesday.
Ms Raval said one family were split in half, with half of them on the plane and half stuck in the corridor.
A spokesperson for Ryanair said: "Due to a human error by handling staff at London Stansted Airport, a small number of passengers could not exit the pre-boarding area doors and regrettably missed their flight to Zagreb [on 2 January].
"The error was soon realised however the flight had already departed.
"Ryanair provided affected passengers with overnight accommodation and moved them on to the next available flight.”
JB,
160 million passengers flew with Ryanair in 2022 with that figure expected to increase to over 170 million in 2023.A PAT figure of 1.45 bn is an added bonus.
Do you realise that 40% of the EU population of 447 million fly Ryanair based on 2023 projection.
I appreciate from your posting history you liken yourself to God but ,If you don't mind I will run, sorry fly, with the 40% EU populace on this one.
JH.
I have used Ryanair on numerous occasions mainly due to the fact the timing of the flight satisfies my needs. It is the last straw when I am looking for a flight. Don't take my biased opinion and check for yourself the ratings. Anyhow what I think is not the topic, I am asking you to produce a reference that names Ryanair as "The worlds No. 1 airline"
JB
provide me with proof that Ryanair is "the pits" or is this just your biased opinion.
