As predicted, get Xmas out of the way, pretend you want to speak to the CWU, and then go back on that too.
IA ballot again, and i'm sure we will be striking this time.
I wonder what the public will make of RMG's stance?
I wonder what is going to happen to the share price!!!

Good evening fellow shareholders. I saw the headline and groaned thinking "Appeasement" However I'm pleasantly surprised. I have from the outset believed that the only way to deal with people like TP is as in life generally. When faced with a loud mouthed thicko do you cower? Do you ask how can I oblige you? No you tell them the facts of life. Otherwise by appeasement you simply wait for the bully to realise how easy it was and he's soon back for more. I will not bother debating with those here that fit the aforementioned description, so do your worst.
I have believed from the outset that Rico is exactly what RMG needs. He has my total support irrespective of short term pain. ONWARDS and UPWARDS guvnor.
I saw a figure of £100 million from June 17. I'd imagine it's increased since then with the bigger rounds. RMG do seem very coy on releasing any figures, I'm not surprised with a 2.1 bn market cap, spending 5% on sick pay is some stat. I'd like to know how much Amazon spend, not in the UK, but worldwide.
Wolves posted that sick rates were running at around 15% to 20% in his office which seems to be extremely high and I'm not sure that another business would be able to cope with that.
It would be interesting to know how much sick leave costs RM. Any ideas?
Fruitster I should have added that in terms of pay rise and bonus schemes for any grades this would have been factored into centre and business unit budgets and therefore the business so I personally think that would be the last thing not be agreed even if it is just at inflation rate.
Fruitster I agree but I do think the CWU leadership get that and perhaps it was the stark reality that caused the problem. The numbers are there for everyone to see. I personally do agree that everyone in the business should share in any rewards. I am still hopefully that the natural attrition rates and no recruitment would give the required savings but how can you have less business in a certain area and not cut your cloth to suit. Maybe some lacking simple business acumen but seems a pretty straightforward correlation. Unlike Terry P I dont want to see this business smashed up by anyone so compromise and realism must prevail to allow the business to survive and prosper for all employees. Still waiting for someone to tell me how you take hours out without reducing headcount whether that is through attrition or whatever the total hours utilised are converted to full time equivalents as that is the currency used.
Fruitster I am beginning to think perhaps Rico is really determined to be really firm with the CWU and show exactly what position the business is in. It truly is not in anyone's interest to not be totally transparent at this stage. As I have said the union have to be seen defending their members and a zero pay deal which won't happen IMO would really be a very stark message. The TUPE situation of Parcelforce also appears to be coming back on the agenda and once those wheels are put in motion very difficult to reverse out of or stop. It is a time for calm heads on both sides and Terry resorting to name calling is poor. IMO
Really? You think so?
Just back in and listened to the video from TP he is obviously very angry. It does sound like things have not been positioned very well. I didn't think stepping back would be stopping all activity. If workloads have decreased as the stats show the hours should be taken out the debate is whether this should be to fund SWW or pay deal. Nothing new in the relationship with CWU just feels like they are up against a management team that can't just give in and say have what we cant afford. Perhaps that is why the CWU supporters do want rid of Rico sounds like he is prepared to dig in which is not ideal but realism and compromise must come to the fore. Maybe a bumper Christmas as mentioned by TP will help fund some of the changes required. Those of us that have been involved in many disputes and have worked with CWU over many years know it will not be straight forward.
RM made that deal with the CWU in 2017. They are the ones reneging on it not the CWU our shorter working week proposals are linked to revision activity and nothing else and certainly not a reduction in headcount. TP is spot on about this management team they are amateurs running this business into the ground. So be it you lot are not going to do anything are you. You have no power
I have just watched the video and I'm a little surprised. It seems that RM are pleading poverty so on that basis the next trading announcement should make grim reading?
