Yep, the consolidation puts it into perspective. I bought all the way up to the 40,s all those years ago.... averaged down the other day. Not looking so horrendous now! Hopefully Rbs has turned a corner. The divi is a good sign but not out of the woods yet...
Didhereally has casually omitted the 1 for 10 consolidation that occurred in 2010 or so technically ists about a 2.5X on his investment, but I think 10.8p was pretty close to the lowest that RBS got, and it was probably 2008 or early 2009 that it got that low.
Ha - I can only dream of seeing a 26 X on my investment. I am playing with a lot less than you and have sold RBS this morning and moved it into Lloyds. Will keep RBS on my watch list and should I ever have enough to feel I can comfortably invest in both I may well do the same. GL here.
Hi, can’t really give advise on whether you stay or go that dear boy is yours to make, but I can share this with you I didn’t get in at 214 I got in at 10.8 back in 2007, nearly 1million shares back then. I work in the Nhs and I’m 53 with 3 grown up kids and a beautiful wife. And I’m a proud Scotsman!! And didn’t vote to split the country in to pieces. Oh I also hold Lloyds. ??????
I hold RBS. Got in at 214 so quite happy but having a reset and looking at Fundamentals LLoyds seems slightly stronger? Significantly better P/E, similar Yield, worse PEG but RBS aren't going to keep doubling profits.... Debt to EBITDA ratio seems similar.
Can anyone make a case for not moving my RBS holding over to Lloyds?
Cheers in advance
Long both......lloy,rbs
Barcs...hear their are some shorts open....hence the limited price rise...compare....etc etc
Any thoughts??
yes would like to get more shares when i see a steady movement , looks good anyway , if rates go up on mortgages more money coming in
The uk banks are looking better. Big sell off today but this is just the nature of volatility around results.
The following video has analysis of all three banks and with them all looking bullish it bodes well for RBS. there is a price target too so we should hopefully know what to expect in the next few weeks!

Hell yes ! Just wish I had more, Laden with Lloyds as well so my ship is just waiting for a strong breeze !
Nice....
All ship's rise when the tide comes in
300p here in 2019 anyone ?
I have not invested for a while LennyMac. I was in at the Brexit vote so my investment dropped £150k. I had to wait a while until I broke even and then some, to make a decent return. As the good Lord says, all comes to those who wait. I then put my money in to 12 month bonds to resist temptation and a divorce!. Bonds were up in December, so cashed in and managed to get in to RBS at £2.1 and got out again at £2.31. Back in at the moment with a higher number at £2.40 with an exit price of £2.51 to give a 2 month profit of £55k if it all goes to plan. Will wait and see what happens next week, though my nearest and dearest now wants to stay in them long term for the dividends. You can’t win sometimes.
For the reply’s gents.
Nice to see you back here. Haven't heard from Jings or Mailman for a while but Halfmist has been on today. Hope your investments are fruitful.

Actually its not bad Dividend IMHO
Hopefully a start of things to come here
RBS shareholders finally been rewarded after years of pain
Philip Hammond will be a happy chappy
Just thought I would look in and see if any old friends are still here? Good to see the dividend at last although my 40000 shares in 2009 are long gone! Best of luck for continued recovery.
As long as you hold the shares on the DE Date , I think 22nd March you will get all the dividend promised . Ordinary is 3.5p and Special 7.5p both paid on 30th April. Most company's pay out in this way .
Can someone explain how the dividends payment will work? Or point me to a link. ie dates you had to hold and date of payment and who gets the special dividends? Thanks.
I must admit was just going to mention his quote on brexit but sure the market know see it was a ploy so he could buy more shares at early morning price. Now moving in the right direction
Just don't touch german owned businesses
As I posted yesterday. Good results and the share price goes down. Can only assume it’s down to the Chairman’s comments re Brexit uncertainty.
Welcome to RBS.
However, I think the trajectory for this share is positive. Improving results, dividend payments, and I think that the government is carefully priming media commentary for another sell- off (although I note that some of the big institutions will be cautious, having been stung at 271p at the last one).
240 I’m in
