agree, but any challenge on income is going to knock a SP. Wait a few days and it will recover
RBS goes ex-div on 26 Mar, div payable 4 May and the amount 8p.
Are people over the shock... > £4,000,000,000 profit.... c. £1,500,000,000 wiped off the value of RBS... JOKE!
Nuri - I'm not moaning, I'm laughing :-)
When does it go ex divi and what's the payment guys?
Dinoken - Final dividend is 8 pence. Total dividend = 22 pence... 11% return. People are just fickle and greedy. That's what I have learnt this last two years. As soon as they get fantastic results, they turn their nose up at them. This should be £3.00+, but we have a serious legion of moaning minnies!
Final divi down from 3.5 to 3, cow bank (bo is Irish for cow) not sent to slaughter house, pointless name change from toxic RBS to Nastywest and NIM under cosh. What a valentine from Rose ... Surprised so still above 210.
Make me lots of money. Ok. Here's £4.2 billion pounds... that's 26 pence a share.
Give me lots of money: ok, here's 22 pence (over 10% return)
I don't like that - its not enough. I'm going to sell my shares until they drop 6%...
Really? Is this what investing is about. IMO - inflation is going to overshoot 2% this and interest rates will be at 1.25% by year end.
Cant see the reason for sharp drop since beginning of 2020. Margin pressure amd cost savings less than market expected, but overall impressive results.
Jumping in with 2000 initial holdings I see a recovery.
Name change is a big boost. hated RBS as a group name.
I just ignore the market because they are wrong... I've invested heavily in bank shares.. . profits were very healthy across the board. Barclays did exceptionally well. I wont be too worried about the insanity of the reaction.
I would suggest a new CEO may want to guide the market lower than previous indications. Such a course will a) make it easier to out perform and b) tie their LTIP to simpler hurdles.
The bank may sense economic headwinds over the next 12-18 months.
PPI gone. Costs decreasing rapidly.... litigations down..
seems to have coped well with near zero interest rates for 10 years.. . profits double and interest rates held steady at 0.75%. Dont see interest rates going down given the massive spending plans of government. RBS is a buy
Angst over lower NIMs and restructuring costs likely impacting numbers this year. New broom as the top etc etc This will pass imo
Read properly. the tangible to equity to be in down in the range of 9%-11% in the medium to long term
No one seems to have read the results. Can someone please explain where they found lower guidance. Some items will be better; some worse, but overall, it looks as though 2020 will be better....
Low interest rate environment not good for profitability.
probably knee jerk trading by algos picking through the statement, which picks out difficult trading environment and slight reduction in NIM. I suspect it will recover, well at least I hope so.
No PPI payouts going forward... brilliant! I am laughing that this is actually down... am I looking at my screen the right way. They have paid out 22 pence and people are selling their shares....
Actually the results for the banking sector in the UK are exceptionally good given the terrible backdrop. Imagine what they'll be like if the economy actually picks up....
Nuri, this equates to a bit of a profits warning despite being better this time round, now backward looking but the divi is good for now for the current share price
The dividend is entirely covered within the profits made. I can't understand the reaction of the market. Most companies go up when profits go up 2-3%... this one has gone up over 100% and the share price drops. Every company I own shares in whether they announce a profit or loss, have gone down after results day... what is wrong with shareholders?
The bank declared a final ordinary dividend of 3 pence and announced a 5p special dividend, taking its total 2019 distribution to 22.0p. The lender paid out a 12p special dividend at the interim stage stage, financed by the sale of its stake in Saudi Alawwal Bank.
Extremely surprised this is down. Profits have gone up over 100%.... over 100%??????????????????????????????????????????????Perplexed this is down. To be honest, was expecting 5-10% rise in the share price. Putting my last £15k in here. Dividend 10%!
Exceptional results. Share price should be over £2.30. Don't know why anyone would expect 15 pence. The final dividend is c. 1/3 of the full year.
