Just an observation on the previous 4 years of results. It's obvious that new and used car sales have been down in this period but how much longer can this last. After all finance deals are coming to an end from these "record years" and people will need to upgrade their cars. I think this see and wait philosophy of the last few years has to end sometime. After all cars can cost too much in the long run if kept too long. Just been in today to Evans. Halshaw and thinking about getting a new car as the deals are great. And when they have me I'll be spending on the after sales too.
I didn't think you were! I can't see much more upside now before the results, maybe we'll reach 12.5p or 13p which, imho, without new information, is a fair price for the future. So for me its hold - wait and see, and perhaps reduce at the end of the week.
Mathsprof, I'm not complaining on SP increase, just not sure whether its a buy, hold or reduce at this level.
Yes, but the upward movement, although now over 50% since the new year, has been gradual rather than sudden. Simple reason - lots of buying - maybe someone other than Odey is acquiring a stake, but I we've finally thrown off the shackles of the RI and its overhang.
Sometimes a company will issue a RNS to comment on "share price movement" just in case there is another reason for this sharp correction
We got one yesterday corfirming Odey holds 27+%. What else are you looking for?
Still going up, can we expect any RNS soon?
Looks like your correct on why Odey hold so much in Pendragon (and Looker) and seems that they have been caught out with all other PI's. http://www.marketfolly.com/2011/10/odey-asset-management-buys-more-lookers.html
Odey are not a short term holder. As we discussed in October they had a big holding before the RI. I suspect they are a value investor rather than one involved in a potential bid. Even now 10.75p is a give-away price.
Limit order expiring 10th feb set to sell 20,000 shares at 12.25p ... nice to see the iii message board showing signs of life! ... not got an opinion myself on bid speculation.
interesting read on the iii board re odey asset management building up their stake and a potential bid. http://www.iii.co.uk/investment/detail?code=cotn:PDG.L&display=discussion&it=le
Thanks for advice will check both --- sold my holding of Pendragon -- @ 10.30 -- made 32% on my modest investment -- so happy. So im one waiting for drop now so i can buy in again -- maybe hehehe -- gl to all
on results imo.
Sold 20,000 @ 10.54p holding 220,000 shares + circa £4k cash ... support for this level seems pretty strong, if a little premature? ... charting + volume monitoring not really my thing -- GLA
My two tips for 2012 that haven't doubled yet (JJB has) are SUMM and VRP. Both have real potential, and are worth watching and finding out about if you like the risks of bios. I think your 12p wish here may come a bit sooner than I was expecting. GL
Two shares to watch please - thx
Results are expected on 21 February. Worth holding until at least then, unless we reach 15p before!
I agree...will not consider reducing my holding until 15p at least. I don't mind waiting for this target as I expect it to be reached later this year.
will be hit in Feb I think, still more upside.
p/e Inch 9.3 p/e lookers 7.3 p/e pdg 4.1 It doesn't make sense. p/e here should be at least 6. Forward p/e for dec12 is only 4.8 too - (2011 profits expected to be higher than 2012). Forward p/e of 6 would give a SP of 11.16p. Very possible in short term, I believe.
One third of Ajusted EPS, not two thirds as per last post ... just checked RI prospectus p129 ... sorry.
Nice rise today. I expect we will have started to look forward to the year end results. Still seriously undervalued imho.
I been speaking to some staff who work at stratstones, seems business is unusually busy and they are working at maximum capacity - this is a good omen
have a good year I believe, not invested here but I deal with the company's head office good luck.
Depending on performance pendragon may start paying dividends for the 2012 period onwards, ie not until 2013? (as I understand it). Under the revised banking facilities the dividend may not exceed 2/3 of adjusted EPS. ... I read that somewhere towards the back of the RI prospectus.
