Right I'm in charge here until Queenie gets back from The Isle of Wight so if you have anything to say lets be having it ! "In my Liverpool Home" was written by a great Liverpool socialist called Peter McGovern he died five or six years ago and was well known for being a Red in more ways than one so any reference to a superior Everton wouldn't be the original but a version by one of the many talented Evertonion song writers or artists over the years, not sure if you know but the reference to " A statue exceedingly bare" refers to the huge statue of a naked well endowed man over Lewis's ,it was a popular place to meet in the sixties when arranging a date " I'll see you at half seven under the man" the beauty was if you got stood up there was usually somebody else of the opposite sex in the same boat hanging around so you got another chance. I'd forgot about Beaky, he didn't seem the type to just stop posting even though we did give him some home truths but if you haven't come across him on your travels then maybe he is in jail or traveling the world escorting his outstandingly beautiful and talented daughter who was destined for big things in the modeling world after getting a first from Oxford or somewhere, then again he may be just mad busy delivering all those on line goods in his white van. I'll take my £250 profit if it's still there next week it will pay for dinner and accommodation at Gatwick on our last night here at the end of the month Have a great holiday down there and I hope the weather is not as bad as it is here at the moment. catch you next week x http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeX11hXkUo8v
Look would you stop going on about your royal mail on the kaz bb or you'll get us both banned. There should be a relevant new bb on lse by the time I get back from holiday. Personally, I would sell them and bank the whopping profit already there because we might be in for a winter of discontent and they might not rise more but then they might lol. I'm not much help am I . My mother used to say when we played cards - play one and eat the rest when I couldn't decide. Right I have come to the conclusion that there are no other personal investors in oml just me and a load of institutions. Not even the misspelling of supremacy in th last post could spark a reaction. Right definitely my last post on here till after my hols. Go on somebody and surprise me with loads of relevant stuff about oml awaiting me on here upon my return.
Have left you a message on kaz bb. The lyrics to that Liverpool song seem to vary from singer to singer - very creative but the original version has a line or two about the supremecy of Everton. Couldn't find a version of it anywhere. If you can locate it then you know where to post it. Quite reassuring that tucson was not banned but asked to be deleted of his own accord as I suggested to you but he appears to be back now which is good. Right I am going to do a disappearing act of my own now. atb
Right you're in charge of this bb while I'm on holiday lol. I noticed lse have put all your posts back on - bizarre. Talking of your posting history - whatever happened to "beaky" He has totally disappeared from lse, advfn and iii. I wonder if he is in jail lol or if he didn't live long enough to enjoy the fruits of all his deramping labour. The "politician" is back on the bb of a sort of oml peer company but that guy gives me the creeps. LOL Russell from kaz bb - I think his posts are too subtle for some to comprehend lol. It's queer, I remember sitting as a 17 year old from the wrong side of the city in a lecture delivered by a RC professor. Scores of bright cream of the crop kids from better school backgrounds than mine walked out in protest as they thought he was delivering an anti-Semitic speech but they weren't listening intently enough or they might have comprehended that he was actually poking fun at bigots. I actually think a lot of these bbs are like that. People are either deliberately or unintentionally misinterpreting things. Mind you students these days are a bit wimpish -, a certain hue of government withdrew their grants and imposed course fees and they took it lying down. Anyhow I was at another soirée tonight in a large mansion house (freezing cold) not charitable this time and a nice W Buffet meal, song and drama to educate and entertain about yet another of Scotland's famous sons who fared better abroad. I got caught at the end trying to take a doggy bag home lol. The lead singer in this cropped up in discussion with a lady tonight - I wonder if he and his good lady stayed or left that lecture theatre all those years ago and here's hoping this will not remind you of your Royal Mail investment in a couple of weeks' time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gxMvb9VrzY And one for you and our Scouser oml chief executive http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lUl9HaFbN8
Going out denis will leave you a little message later before my holidays
Denis phew you'll get £750 worth at £3.30 but if you had applied for a penny more than you did - you would have got nothing can't be too bad - no commission and stamp duty. I see some people say the workers who might go out on strike are hypocrites if they take shares in the company. Don't see that one at all. It was a fait accompli so they deserve anything they can get like the next person.
A guy on the CRU bb tracked a copy down for me in the USA quite pricey and the postage charges lol are not as keen as our good old domestic ones with Royal Mail. Need to be careful when you buy stuff from the States etc. I have landed import and other taxes and a Parcelforce handling fee in the past for goods coming from abroad. I gather the ticker for Royal Mail will be RMG but still no disucssion bb as yet on lse. Aims lol I gather Old Mutual have crossed above the 6% mark in IOF last week but not sure it will be another FWEB for me so just going to head off on holiday and forget about it all for a while. The Laura Cantrell fan on advfn is not too keen on iof and a few other Aims shares. The concert was on Friday not Sunday as I had first thought but I went to see the musical "Sunshine on Leith" last night. There's a traditional punch up in it and quite funny and poignant in parts. And a very apt song for you Letter from America http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UPJ-euBzSM Don't be a stranger PS Old bloke, I nodded off a couple of times myself at our history club tonight, the topic rather than my age I hope.
Just had a knee jerk reaction and applied for £10k s worth of Royal Mail with my XEL money hopefully for a quick in and out, I suspect like me and Sally your sentiments are anti denationalization but please wish me luck as I wave you goodbye !
My position with Kaz is bought in @ 3.43 and could have taken about 15% profit within a day or two but decided to hang on in, I’ve started my withdrawal from AIM selling my XEL holding at 1.18 on Friday at a decent profit, I need all the cash can muster to put into my US venture but will not let Kaz or BLVN go until they are in profit regardless of how long it takes, I know ignoring them is not necessarily the right strategy and selling them at a loss to invest somewhere else might be but I have too much going on to research or trade at the moment. By the way the way good luck with you search for your Alter ego Shipyard Sally x http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lKwXwU5iWs
It's been clear for a while now that fernie is a wind up merchant with nothing to contribute either while invested or when he's sold up. There's probably a bit of the attention seeker in him and often the best thing to do is just ignore them. You're not holding pfd now so it's no skin off your nose what he wants to say there. Hark at me lol and the boards I have hung around after selling to support those still holding. One guy used to pop in you know where after he had sold now and again to offer some moral support but I've come to the conclusion that all it really says is: I sold a while ago, I'm glad I'm out and I like this company so much that I am not buying in again poor you lol. The opposite of that guy on the old razor blades ad. Can't remember about your kaz but have you not been in profit there maybe twice or three times - maybe more. Certainly you had your opportunity there the day the enrc takeover announcement was made. Heading off out for lunch today again. A charity thing at a castle. Easy to get the impression from these bbs that the world is full of a lot of gossipy, vindictive, back stabbing rotters who would sell their souls and their mothers to the highest bidder. In reality, it is often a nicer place. This lady throwing the lunch today will go to a lot of bother and I'm not so sure I'd throw open my house - even if it was a castle - to thirty odd diners. Depending on your mood have( I remember) Sorrento moon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtvzLgLXJ1A or this was a Big River http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJ86bisRo3s
He’s an easy target over there on PFD Queenie maybe I should be taking Blue Eyes and ulvers on instead but you seem to be sorting her for me in good style, my time spent at the airport Hilton was in the good old days when I carried a company Barclay Card and a Hilton Honours diamond card so never worried too much about price’s but believe me I do now. I didn’t mind the only cruise we’ve been on over to Cozumel out of Miami but it’s not for Mrs C she is definitely a confirmed land lubber so that’s my cruising days over as well, it’s unlikely that she would want me going on my own after seeing the antics from some of the more desperate looking singles of both sexes aboard ours. Enjoy your lunch I remember you missing out on Kaz at £7.75 when ironically down the mine!, I’m off to the gym now for a couple of hours followed by a bowl of “Fruit and Fibre” I need a healthy week after a weekend blowout on a little golfing trip to North Norfolk played Kings Lynn on the way over to Cromer and played Royal Cromer on Sunday which was quite tough after competing pint for pint with my much younger companions followed by a Madras curry. Have a good one. Cheers
lol saw you couldn't resist the pfd bb. Hilton at the airport £7 a day parking for residents and we had to pay £3 for a couple of hours. Yes seem to remember a little power boat ferry trip and Pompeii in the morning. Why is this bb so quiet when you look at Aviva and Standard Life and even Royal sun alliance
Did okay trading enrc earlier this year and am awaiting the money and allocation of kaz shares from that to get my kaz average down. If I hadn't had an outing and a short break on February 13th (unlucky for some) during midterm, I would have sold my kaz shares then at a profit lol but never been one for sitting about monitoring shares or alas setting trading plans and stop losses but sometimes very worthwhile. If you can guess kaz correctly like samunj seemingly can then it is very volatile and you can at least trade it because it is not headed south all the time or stock still which a lot of aims can be. Capri yes I've been there on a cruise. No big harbour so tender boats needed. Think most went to the Almalfi Gardens on an excursion but we walked up the three levels. July and a swell brewing. Coach had to redirect us to Naples which had a proper big harbour. Everybody throwing up and no eating or drinking that night. Glasses crashing down from the shelves. Trip to Corsica was also abandoned due to the choppy waters. Captain lugubriously came over the tannoy and asked us to preserve water which was the last thing folk could do with the toilets flushing all the time for one reason or another. Put me off cruising for a good few years. The days at sea can be very tedious. lol Was going to go for rmg with no stamp duty or commission on ipo but my broker offers me some free commission days anyhow and some of the shares I trade have no stamp duty applicable anyhow. Sister just told me her birthday card arrived three days late which was the deciding factor and I'm not sure I agree with the move anyhow lol . Off to get ready to take her to lunch.
I’m with your son at this time of year I think I’d prefer the Isle of Capri to The Isle of Wight, I went there once on a ferry from Sorrento ( Capri not Wight !) after driving down from Kettering via a music festival in Reims, then Zurich and Genoa where I got very very drunk on Mc Ewans Export of all things, not something you would associate in a little harbour bar on the site where Christopher Columbus set sail in search of The New World, I had to be led back to the hotel by Mrs Caff where I was very unwell fortunately not something that happens too often. The Hilton Edinburgh Airport is an old haunt of mine, I stayed there quite a often, attended a few functions and used it as a handy meeting place when flying up from Manchester before taking the flying coffin to Inverness and sometimes beyond to the exotic Stornoway or Kirkwall. I’m also thinking of getting out of this den of iniquity as soon as I’m back to break even at least, I’m currently holding mostly BLVN (-39%) XEL +26% and a small amount of KAZ (-27%) and even smaller amounts of EVO (39%) and RRL (-64%) overall thanks to XEL just being my main holding over BLVN the overall situation is (-16%) I’ll be needing some cash in the next month or so and intend to cash in my profitable XEL and let the rest stay for as long as it takes. Here’s one from the most famous resident of Capri, I could imagine this role would suit you in real life ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76epZXpOO3U Enjoy your jollies and don't forget your umbrella speak soon x
Just finishing some work off and looked on the bbs. SEE Fernie, the wild rOVER, is back posting on pfd bb saying he'll buy back in at £1. Glad I'm going to bodyswerve the I.O.M. the island as well as the shares lol. Do you see that cup bb as silent as the grave. Thought somebody might have posted on there today about Dobbie's brother-in-law selling a sizable chunk of his iom shares to " rebalance" his pf. But that truly was my last aim's and possibly small caps "investment" I must have had a lot of beginner's luck. It only takes a few buddies to email round each other to pump them up and get a bit of volume going and then of course it's a scramble to sell first. And there's so much acrimony when the buddies fall out if one of them has been left out the loop. Son not all that happy about IOW. Knows the music festival is over for this year. Aberdeen Asset Management sponsor Cowes week - shame that's passed for this year too. It'll be a laugh if nothing else to see how the bb react to the return of the Prodigal Son. Poor old 10 men Celtic earlier eh. Crikey I've always said anybody studying psychology could do worse than study the behaviour patterns on these bbs. Take care and bye for now.
There was a restricted choice menu at the Hilton Haymarket but the one at Edinburgh airport allows a free choice so took the steak at nearly £24 and one of us had the cheese platter nearly £9 for afters. Had to wrap some up in hankies and bring it home. Could feed a family of four with it for weeks. I didn't really spend too much in there either. Bought all the games consoles in there over many many years but only took out the loyalty card a couple of years ago when buying a Nintendo 3 d. Bought the X box 360 one Christmas after that and the Vita last Christmas - always worked out reasonably cheap and good value there when buying a bundle deal. LOL Going to withhold the Play Station 4 this year as a Christmas gift - will interfere too much with studies. Will say it will be merited next summer depending on exam results - first time I have every done anything harsh like that. Off to sister's tomorrow. LOL Her son has our burnt out Playstation 3. Said he would repair it in his oven. LOL see if he mentions it . How are your Aims stocks doing lol? You have some of the worst derampers of stocks on your bbs do you not though they don't necessarily deramp the ones they are holding and isn't it funny when a trade gone wrong for some becomes a long term hold. Off to see Laura Cantrell in Glasgow at the weekend. Her debut album was the late John Peel's favourite of all time surprisingly enough. Speak after the hols Queen of the Coast http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMagtdw8AQU
"Vouchers for 3 course dinners with champagne cocktails and afternoon teas for the next year" with my 500 quid ! that's my Ho Wong dream shattered then, enjoy the I.O.W been down to the Hampshire coast a few times but never been over I hear it's very nice but Fernie will be disappointed to have missed you x
Bank of America today reiterate buy recommendation for oml with a price target of £2.20 - 10p below Golman Sach target. Denis good luck with your averaging down at blvn. Market looking a bit gloomy today. Will have to do my tour of Liverpool another time. Was going to do the Anfield tour with lunch for 2 with the hmv pure points vouchers and Beatles boyhood homes but the latter opens for the week on Wednesday at this time of year which didn't fit in with our plans to tour Britain given that I am the only one in this house with a current valid passport. As you know, I am working my way round the British islands so it was a toss up between Fernie 123 territory, Isle of Man, or the Wighlady's Isle of White and the latter won. Looking forward to it though usually go abroad for the weather in October. Can't complain about the weather at the weekend. Traded in my hmv pure points vouchers for the football stadia tours and now have vouchers for 3 course dinners with champagne cocktails and afternoon teas for the next year lol and the life of the vouchers can even be extended and exchanged for other types of gifts. LOL I suspect hilco is not picking up the tabs for that but maybe you are but I suspect nobody is perhaps except the hotels and restaurants in question lol. Peeped over the fence at Princes Street Gardens to find hmv Princes Street still with its doors open - so much for the total wipeout planned for Scotland's capital. Debt jettisoned and it's business at usual. Visited the supreme courts as part of door open day and a lovely view from the offices of Aberdeen Asset Management and a nice art collection in there. LOL I must go and hide for a week or two as I said on lse their shares were good for trading lol. I see my bf tetley of xel etc bb fame on advfn is in for some royal mail lol. Wonder if his next lse user name will be postman pat or Mrs Goggans lol/ Tv talent shows - oh that x factor has a fresh sadistic twist. Caught a bit of it last night. 6 kids get selected to go through to the next round then there is a chance for them to get deselected with the suitable commercial breaks and long delays in telling the kids the judge's verdict. A bit like the supreme courts when you come to think about it. Take care on your forthcoming travels.
Thanks for all that Queenie I really appreciate you taking time out to share your considerable experiences on these boards with me, we don’t get Mc Avennie down here but I watched many an episode late at night from hotel rooms across the Central Belt and The Highlands, very funny sketch and the subtly placed the bottle of Irn Bru on the dining table didn’t escape me. Just averaged down this morning with my BLVN as you rightly say I don’t spend my day trading and I don’t even have L2 as I did a few years ago, when I was on ADVFN it began to take over every minute of my day even when I was in the states the screen was always on blinking away in the background, I’ll wait until they go back over a £1 as I’m sure they will do eventually, I just hate selling at a loss even though I know you have to if you want to trade short term. Spent Saturday night in Liverpool with my sons, Daughter-in -Laws and a group of younger than me friends celebrating my older sons fortieth birthday, the highlight of the night was my nephew Adam who got as far as the final T.V auditions for the voice this year in London and is a very talented Guitarist/Vocalist took over the mike and borrowed the guitar of a local busker for a fiver before having the City Centre bouncing with an impromptu performance at midnight. Last word on my spat with the BLVN mafia, there are some very good posters on there and they obviously have some good banter but some of these little cliques gang up on what they see as an outsider gate-crashing THEIR forum, I was tempted to have a go letting them know it’s a members forum and unless you’ve been banned for obviously ramping / de-ramping or being offensive you are entitled to your opinion but I can’t be ar$ ed Hope you are over your bout of flu and to keep on topic here make sure you spend your OML divi wisely. x
Need to be careful that we don't turn this into another bby bb eh lego where every share under the sun is discussed except the one the bb is intended for. Anyhow denis on blvn, I have no idea when you bought in or if you put much in but know you feel disgruntled. Not sure who is who on the bb but many seem to have been there for ages. It couldn't have taken as much of a knock as some other Aims stocks this year though. Cup got battered down to thirty odd pence from its highs. You have the dilemma a lot of folk will have and that is whether you think it can get back to the price you bought in at and, if so, how long will it take. You are choosing to hold which you did at pfd but obviously there are other options open to you. Not sure if it is volatile enough often enough for you to trade your way to victory but I suspect you like to enjoy life and that does not involve sitting around monitoring share prices.. Apologies to any OML shareholders for all the off topic stuff and good luck to you all with ex divi date fast approaching. Hope you all enjoy spending or renivesting it.
There's a poster - who shall remain nameless - and I have made a point of doing exactly the opposite of what his posts have been suggesting on at least 5 occasions of late and it has worked a treat. Mind you, it just worked for me by the skin of my teeth with one of these. LOL denis, my off bb bf, soon sussed out that the best thing to do was the opposite of what he was saying too and whether that was by accident or design on his part I really don't know. Must get moving now. Have a good weekend.
Here's a bit about the intellectuals discussing the credit crunch and banks going down http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOsm1TzqHII Goodnight
Now hubby asked me the other day do any of the people who post on these bbs day and night have a job. Well they do. Most are pros in this game and only a relatively small number are small personal investors just doing this as a hobby. That's why the bbs can get so bitter and acrimonious at times. The people who contacted me off board where pumping me for info all the time about my trading plans and volunteered nothing of their own investments or trades. I know one poster who advocates only posting on the bbs of companies you are not invested in ie either before you buy or after you have sold as you'll in time get a following of people who hold some sort of grudge against you and take swipes at the shares they think you are invested in. IT takes a twisted logic like theirs to beat them at their own game but it's fun lol. Now that one time poster on the sxx bb last april was worth a read but hand on heart - how many others truly are worth a read. Take care and atb
Now had a little read though but know little about the share(s) in question. First thing to bear in mind is that some folk get emotionally attached to the companies they are invested in and can't bear anybody saying anything critical about them. In some ways, I do like folk to support their shares through thick and thin but some of the staunchiest supporters of dud shares are the first to come on the bbs and attack other companies which I find a bit hypocritical. Good for you for being able to see your share with warts and all and decide to hold it but not be devoted to it like others. It's about four years to the day when I tried to sell half my then rbs at plus 58p pre consolidation and the transaction was inexplicably blocked. Shares fell for months on end, folk saying the company would be nationalised fully and I managed to sell the lot in April 2010 for 58 p plus - never a price to be achieved since. I spoke of the poster r blackie who was worshipped like a false god on the rbs bb and how people followed him sheep like into hmv. I was less of a believer but one of my fellow female Scots from Kilmarnock was always going on about him being responsible for duping folk into buying rbs and hmv at too high a level and another about being duped by some other character into buying solg too high. It's always easier to blame somebody else . Experience helps and that's why I knew to totally ignore a guy who posts occasionally on the kaz bb who said there was an offer for enrc for £4. Sure people shouldn't be de/ramping on bbs but it's up to folk not to listen or be easily led. This guy on advfn is still a supporter of your aims company? - that's different to r blackie and the cup pump and dump where folk who pumped have dumped but not hung about to still support the share. I think you know now why I avoid contact with posters off these bbs. I replied to my boyfriend as you called him on here. I've not known him to make many good calls quite honestly but he has a cult following. I've watched him deramp shares for months on end and then buy in and he said he was there until the bitter end during one takeover process and dumped without saying having assumed the role of board leader. Not admirable behaviour but it takes all sorts I suppose. During a chat with said boyfriend off the bbs last April, I said I had set a sell order on sxx at 22.75p or something. Said bf said oh I have been bearish but I am turning bullish. I cancelled the sell order. News came out 30 april - remember the day as at hospital with my son. Usual ramping on the bb. Just before 8.00 am, a poster i have never seen before or since came on the bb not deramping but saying the resource was there but planning and financing was not going to be a smooth process. It made me think again and I sold for 22.75 in the 15 minutes it was on offer before the marekts opened and the share price crashed while I had to be out at hospital.
Had a look at yours but not theirs lol. Right when you see the posts saying, I'll email you news then that's a ruse to take in the wider audience . If you wanted to email somebody then you'd just go ahead and mail them and you wouldn't need to alert them that you were doing that on a public bb lol. Look out for groups who seem to move around the same shares together and agree unanimously about stuff - that's a bit unnatural as in real life we all have different views from time to time. I seldom agree with hubby about shares. It can be more obvious on iii where you can see them voting up rubbish posts from their pals. On lse, you'll see them all ganging up on one poster but if they pick on an able one then it's funny to watch the one solitary soul wipe the floor with the lot of them. I don't even mind if there is some humour attached to it all but it's usually folk who are as dull as ditch water who were jealous of folk with brains and/or beauty at school or who were bullies. You have as much right as the next person to post on a bb of a company you are invested in for better or for worse and, you say you don't know much about a couple of sectors, you probably know as much as the next person if not more than most on these bbs. Have a good weekend.
