Ill say it again why would MHRA approvals be holding up orders - this is for home testing and the gov want controlled testing - Lets see the ann tomorrow - fingers crossed
Yes MHRA approval will boost sales - when they go on public sale much later - in the meantime mass controlled testing (I hope)
If that doesn’t ensure a 7am RNS nothing will....!
Our government have (of late) become control freaks. It is possible that de-centralised testing, where government have no systematic access to results/statistics, runs counter to their preferences. It is also possible that they are concerned that individuals in possession of a positive antibody test will be more likely to disregard tightening COVID restrictions. The sudden availability of an accurate antibody test would be a boon for individuals, but not for a government working the way ours appears to be. We have already seen moves to restrict the availability of private testing “for the greater good”. Perhaps approval is being slow-walked deliberately for wider policy reasons?
It does seem the MHRA is taken a while, I guess when you issue a test to millions they could get it wrong, at the same time the % error currently with people not using them correctly up their throat and nose due to discomfort is high. I doubt the poc test will not be as good in regards being used. So sometime soon, big positive bring poc antigen through Mologic will follow far quicker and combined great position
Bag well so far it has taken MHRA 7 times As long to approve the use ability test as to do it. I can only guess at the data collected by Ulster but presumably there was a questionnaire about how each part of the test was performed. The results only needed to be summarised. Ulster deemed it a success. The results are particularly instant. I would say this has to be the most embarrassing delay by any regulatory body given the need for these tests.
We do not need this final approval to sell but the Govt has first call. They are going to use them in care homes and hospitals, they will need the tracing app to record poc data so Govt will delay home use. ODX will sell to other parties as soon as the Govt sort themselves out. A lot of businesses will want to test staff most have medical plans with local facilities who can test staff. Cannot believe Govt is so slow when they want the economy to come back.
So the only thing holding up the release of the antibody test is the usability approval, how long does that take, why is this not fast tracked.
Chuggley completely agree with your thoughts re control and access. The level of both antigen and antibody testing that will be required in the coming years is massive, I know people are cynical about the Govt moonshot aspirations but the reality is testing is required at these levels to keep on top of covid. ODX has a suite of high quality tests that will support, along with others, to ensure this aspiration is delivered in the coming months.
I keep reading people saying that we wont see orders before MHRA approval - why? Isnt this approving home use? IMO the government - dont really want home testing (well not yet anyway) they cant control it and have no access to the data - unless people share it - i feel they wont.
Again my opinion - is they will order this test imminently - but will have it controlled at test centers so they retain 1st hand control and access over the results. I think this is a good thing and because of speed we could see a massive ramp up on testing numbers
Yes MHRA approval will come and at some point it will be accessible to all .
I think the same will be true of the antigen test from Mologic
Home use will come much later but in both cases we will see massive orders but controlled testing.
Ive a feeling we will see good news next week - GLA
@mars1 thanks but how long does the usability approval take, is this approval from the MHRA?
Pumpky the test was carried out by Ulster Univ.
Bag puss the test was completed 6th Sept it took 2 days. The abc test already has MHRA approval just needs usuability approval
How long does it take to get the MHRA approval, I would have thought this would be prioritise and fast track though the approval process.
