Tonic, I'm thinking the 2500 became 2000 due to practical constraints, and it's the same thing. Could be wrong, don't quote me.
my take on the last post regarding the SAGE committee, is that PHE knows that someone on this committee fooked up in order millions of antibody tests that dont work, so they are overruling them. We are going about doing the correct process, so when PHE approve ours, this will be the only one rolled out.
All the recalled ones havent been approved by PHE.
@Tonic, that BIVDA item relates to PHE remaining with its stance that the Superdrug (etc) over the counter tests should not be sold, I think. Noted the last para in the press release which you've pulled out appears to potentially relate to the Ulster uni drive throughs?
I think most news seems to be around the below... Which Im trying to understand whether this is good or bad for odx

I doubt it. It didn’t start that long ago. I guess there is a process to go through. Like writing to everyone first.

To achieve self-testing accreditation, pre-approval from the MHRA is required to perform self-test usability studies. The planned study will be performed by Ulster University using approximately 2,000 volunteers and, once complete, will allow the UK-RTC to seek final approval from the MHRA for self-test use. In addition, the test will also be subject to further independent evaluation.
