Hardware-enabled SaaS (HeSaaS): Dawn of a New(mark) Era -
What an excellent post and I totally agree. HeSaaS is the magic formula as Apple have proven (okay perhaps not the most realistic comparison). The point is however it is a bit painful to change your hardware and software and you'll likely lose your historic data. So once you have a customer and thing are going smoothly they are with you for good. You can increase your annual reoccurring fees in line with inflation and perhaps a little more, then you charge them to swap out the hardware every few years. It all adds up to a great revenue and customer model. Capturing share is important which is what NWT are doing right now....
On the valuation front, personally I think we'll get taken out before we hit £100m. Marie-Claire turns 60 years next month (April) and whilst she will be enjoying this strategy playing out, I am sure she'd want to be considering her exit in a year or two. We probably need the valuation to be at around £20-£30m (now only 2-4x current price 220p - 330p) for a bid to accepted around the £50m mark (550p). That I am sure will do all all parties! The crazy thing is that could easily happen in the next 18-24 months! Sit tight! Lift off is soon...
I don't keep a list of historical share trades but I take a look at LSE trades and regularly see blocks of 10,000 shares going through at the buy price which are tagged unknown*. There must have been at least one a week this year which leads me to the conclusion there is stake building going on by someone yet we have not had an announcement which leads me to conclude there is another buyer out there yet to hit 3%. Could it be multiple buyers - maybe, but most trades are tagged with a buy or sell. It is the regular re-occurrence of these 10,000 purchases tagged *unknown which is driving my theory. Unless a sale comes through in the next 20 minutes we'll hit that 8 year closing high and I'm lucky enough to be heading to the pub tonight :)
Hardware-enabled SaaS (HeSaaS) should become, in my opinion, become one of the 'gold standards' of tech investments.
Its merits are not yet fully-widely appreciated in the general investment community, but the 'cognoscenti' already do, and have been investing accordingly.
Pure play SaaS investments seem to be more erratic: the results can be anywhere from very good to disastrous.
RDT (Rosslyn Data Technologies - which profit-warned yesterday) is a good (or bad) example of the latter type: down over 99% since its floatation a decade ago.
And my gut feeling is that the 'golden era' of pure play SaaS investments is now over.
But how to play this emerging HeSaaS zeitgeist?
Well, I know of no better HeSaaS play than NWT.
It's only relatively recently that NWT has evolved into such an exciting HeSaaS opportunity, and its rerating upwards is still relatively early stage, so there's still an opportunity to invest here 'before the train leaves the station'.
It is quite simply an outstanding investment opportunity, of the type that very rarely present themselves.
A £100M. market cap. within a few years looks more than achievable, which would equate to a good ten-bagger from 90p, even with say 15% dilution.
So this share should certainly provide a very nice pension for many people.
Hardware-enabled SaaS (HeSaaS) can therefore be a real key to greater efficiency and effectiveness: for the users, and ergo for the wider economy.
And in addition, HeSaaS can also often be a better business model for the provider than 'pure play' SaaS; this article explains why:-
"Hardware Enabled SaaS : Next generation of SaaS companies

... This is why we believe that Hardware enabled SaaS (HeSaaS), a model where hardware is an integral part of the SaaS offering, can be a logical evolution of the pure play SaaS model for many industries and use cases. HeSaaS manages to circumvent or minimize many challenges faced by SaaS startups. The hardware element acts as an anchor, helping in reducing customer churn by reducing the possibility of customers migrating away to a marginally cheaper or marginally better SaaS. HeSaaS startups doing outright hardware sales are further able to magnify the Lock In Effect. Talent to work on specialized hardware design is also tougher to find, which along with defensible IPs makes it tougher to directly copy the product and greatly reduces commodification risk. HeSaaS model also opens up new or untapped niche markets that couldn’t have been effectively served by a SaaS only model. Hence there has been a lot of interest in this space in recent years. ..."

Thanks for the updates Hedgehog. Keep them coming!.
The content and sentiment coming out the company oozes confidence for their products, customers and markets at the moment. It's not surprising really, considering the managements message on profits and that we're going to significantly outperform 1H. They told us we were making money in Q2, and that Q3 and Q4 will be significantly ahead - happy days.
This sentiment is being carried into the share price again. A nice spike in volume today (largest since the results) driving the price to 90/95 intraday high, testing 8 year highs!
We're still at least 10 weeks away from the full year trading update and have already recovered from the natural pull back at the end of January. Another 10 weeks at the current trajectory and we'll be looking at around 120p as the RNS hits.
That should then allow a nice steady rise into the full year results in September, when we demonstrate the full earning power of the 2H. The YoY will look fantastic. The results will allow us to run the forecasts for 2025, and based on my current calcs I expect nothing less than £2.5m profit. That's when the fireworks will really go off... DYOR as always...

The Speed Gates certainly look very stylish and practical.

"Entrance Control vs Access Control
10 February, 2021
Entrance and Access Control are both necessary elements to control who enters and exits any premises or secure area, but do you know the true difference between the two?
Access Control
Access Control refers to the selective systems that are used to verify authorised personnel using their credentials for example, biometrics, pin numbers, access cards, bluetooth etc, and permits or denies entry based on the requirements predefined in the system.
Entrance Control
Entrance control is the physical system which actually prevents or allows entry into an area when the decision has been fed to it by an Access Control system. This can be done by a range of high and low security systems, for example:
Security Portals ...
Revolving Doors ...
Security Pass Doors ...
Speed Gates ...
Full Height Turnstiles ...
Tripod Turnstiles ...
Swing Gates ..."

"Entrance control market set for “robust” growth – here’s why
... What entrance control products are in demand?
Several entrance control products and technologies are in high demand, fuelling the growth of the overall market. They include:
Full-height turnstiles
Installed at entry points, full-height turnstiles provide a robust barrier to control access to secure areas. They are commonly used in high-security environments like stadiums, critical infrastructure facilities, and research institutions, offering a strong deterrent against unauthorised entry.
Speed gates
Combining a sleek design with efficiency, speed gates are deployed in locations where a balance between security and user experience is vital. Examples include corporate offices, luxury establishments, and transportation hubs. Speed gates allow for swift, controlled access while blending seamlessly with modern infrastructure.
Security doors
Acting as the first line of defence, security doors integrate seamlessly into various environments, such as office buildings, airports, and public venues. These doors are equipped with advanced access control technologies to ensure only authorised individuals can enter. Their versatility makes security doors a practical choice for enhancing security without compromising the overall look of the surroundings.
Security portals
As one of the most advanced entrance control security measures, security portals incorporate features like biometric authentication, temperature screening, and AI-driven security protocols. These portals provide a comprehensive solution for high-traffic areas, government facilities, and research laboratories. They address security and public health concerns with a multi-layered approach to access control.
Trust in Safetell
Keeping employees and assets safe is more important than ever. The world faces various challenges like terrorism, criminal activities, and unauthorised access, and it’s crucial to have reliable protection in place. That’s where Safetell’s range of entrance control security solutions comes in.

Entrance control market set for “robust” growth – here’s why
Entrance control systems are an often unnoticed but critical part of public security. Speed gates, turnstiles, security doors, and portals are all critical components of everyday security. Operating quietly in the background, they regulate the flow of individuals, ensuring safety in spaces we encounter daily – airports, offices, public areas, and more.
Their indispensable role is shown by new figures that say the value of the entrance control systems market is set to enjoy significant growth over the coming years. A market forecast from Verified Market Reports predicts its value will increase from $2.65 billion in 2023 to $3.7 billion by 2030, representing a robust compound annual growth (CAGR) rate of 3.6%.
The report noted the trends driving the increase in demand: “Technological advances and the increasing focus on security measures are driving the dynamic evolution of the global pedestrian entrance control systems market.
“The environment is changing due to advancements in contactless technology, biometric authentication, and integration with smart infrastructure. As urbanisation and security concerns grow, the industry is seeing a spike in demand for sophisticated, effective entrance control systems to guarantee seamless and safe pedestrian access.”
A report from Persistence Market Research suggests more bullish growth, from $2.8 billion in 2023 to $5.29 billion in 2023 at a CAGR of 6.6%, with North America (27.6%) and Europe (21.5%) accounting for the two largest global markets. ..."

So perhaps do it with a net; or maybe even 'via net'.
And on that note, here's another comparable share to NWT that has been 'leaping forwards' recently:-

VNET, market cap. £32.47M. at 110.5p, also shows both how these markets are recovering, and NWT's valuation potential.
And note that NWT's subsidiary Safetell seems to be expanding more into the petrol forecourt sector (in a different way to VNET), which suggests that this could be a significant growth opportunity:-

Exponential Profitable Growth; The Innovators of Security 27 Jan 2024 18:11
"I've noticed that some of the material on NWT's website has just been refreshed, and here's a snippet that is particularly worth noting:-
"Through our dedication to providing exceptional security supported by beneficial value-add services, we are strongly positioned for exponential – and profitable – growth."
https://newmarksecurity.com/about/
Exponential profitable growth: that's as bullish as I've seen from the company - people who aren't known for their hyperbole - and it does highlight just how confident they are of the outlook here.
This heading on the home page is also new:-
"The Innovators of Security"
https://newmarksecurity.com/
This is a noticeably greater emphasis on the company's cutting-edge innovation: innovation which helps to distinguish it, and make it so special.
And it certainly seems sensible to emphasise this."
