I have a question for all of you... are you all interested in the tech? Regardless that mtv filed bankrupt and any asset they had is now gone. What atsc 3.0 and any other tech that comes out in the industry over the next 5 or 10 years will have nothing to do with mtv. It will not get you your money back here. Content Express is old hat, topuptv tried to use a similar system and it failed. There are hundreds of companies offering a similar service on planes and trains today. It's nothing major, simple multi stream server technology. You could set one up easy enough in your own home. I await your answers
Nice article parkez, also, “does not require infrastructure development”.
Another point MTV were claiming with content Express.
Hi everyone. Just checking in to register my interest in the current chat. Good to hear the interest . I also am still in contact with others still interested. Hope everyone is happy and well.
So if that dongle and app were not MTVS...then whos was it?
Anyone aware of anyone else developing this "out of date tech"?
And of course this sounds familiar...
"As part of the launch, in the absence of on-device SoCs, a smartphone with an ATSC 3.0 receiver and tuner dongle attached was on display, with an associated mobile app for changing channels."
Kipper you have stated..
"The Iphone and some Android phones had ATSC 3 chips in back in 2016/7, the tech was out there, but no one has done anything with it,"
I can find no evidence of this statement, in fact this states it was not in fact possible.
https://www.thebroadcastbridge.com/content/entry/13280/nab-ceo-slates-apple-for-ignoring-atsc-3.0-chips
Can you please post your source of information where you learned of this fact, Thank you.
Ok my tech knowledge is very limited but the examples you have given appear to me to be very different to the MTV Tpod.
ATSC is a hybrid signal (broadband/broadcast) enabling a return signal to the sender. NON of these examples are capable of doing that.
Onto Korea who have had ATSC 3.0 broadcasting for a few years now....cannot find any evidence of them achieving a ATSC 3.0 mobile service, just wondered if you could perhaps search the same source of your info as the Apple phones that had chips in for some evidence.
Many Thanks...your input is appreciated.
WOW!
Something must have rattled you that you took time out to look up ATSC members, not forgetting, posting on a BB that displays MTV’s data, which according to you is no good Tech and MTV are gone.
Keep it up Kip, now you are getting me intrigued.
Yes Shaa, you are right, ATSC 3 can do more, but my point being, what has this to do with MTV? Nothing, you are clutching at straws that are not there. ATSC was set up by the Advanced Television Systems Committee. As far as I can tell, this has nothing to do with MTV and no one from MTV sit on the committee. The Iphone and some Android phones had ATSC 3 chips in back in 2016/7, the tech was out there, but no one has done anything with it, there is no demand yet. If I have missed anything as to why you thing folded MTV have anything to do with what is going on in the industry, please let me know. How did Lens other business go, Quarterback by Airwavs????? Actually, just noticed, Len is not working there anymore.
Different ball game all together, ATSC 3.0 allows much, much more through the delivery method. The possibilities are endless as ATSC 3.0 becomes part of your network infrastructure at home, delivering much, much more then the previous mentioned and at the same time delivering OTT services.
If there is already something out there then why are Sinclair Next Gen TV spending millions.
Keep it up though Kipper, if anything it’s keeping the board alive.
Ok, great questions... Google Navion DVB-T - TDT Wireless Television Antenna, WiFi Digital TV tuner for tablet/phone - REVIEW, Geniatech WiTV DVB-T2 ISBD-T Watch Full HD TV on Tablet/Phone Anywhere You Like, Elgato EyeTV Wireless Mobile Digital TV Tuner, Watch TV on Any Tablet/Smartphone, Geniatech WiTV T. So there we have it, many people do the TPOD style unit. After all, MTV did not design it, they just put a software twist on it. (Branded it). Regarding Giuseppe, please remember, there were the contracts with the Greek ferries, Syaya Africa. There may have been a few quid to make, but not enough to pay the director salaries and jet-set lifestyle. ATSC3.0 is the ~American standard for Broadcast TV, it's only just becoming available. It has nothing to do with MTV. It's a TV standard. The DVB-T2 standard allows up to 5 HD channels or many more SD channels to be transmitted on a given set of TV frequencies. The amount of data it transmits approaches the theoretical limit and some of the technology is part of ATSC 3.0. It means the (narrower) American TV stations can transmit in UHD. A DVB-T2 frequency (actually TV channels are a bundle of 8 frequencies in the UK, 7 in the USA and for digital purposes are often called “multiplexes”) can easily accommodate a UHD station but this is unlikely due to the limits it would place on choice and developments in internet delivery. (Again, MTV did not invent this) Regarding MTV services... Does it actually do anything? Does it operate as a business? Companies house got any accounts for it? (Apart from the Romanian gentleman that set up MTV services in 2017, who is a property refitter. It's probably a shell that can be used for tax purposes. As I have said, if MTV had something, they would not have gone bust. But at the end of the day, that's what happened. They did not delist and go private, they went bust.
I am glad you ‘saw the light’ and sold before you lost everything Kipper.
Can you also explain to us ‘lost souls’ why someone (Giuseppe De Flores) would pay nearly half a million pounds for something worthless.
Thanks in advance.
Kipper, do any of those devices ,services, actually receive the atsc 3 signal, decode it and send via wifi to TVs,mobiles?
Please direct me to one that does so I can compare and learn...thanks.
Kipper thank you for that post..you are quite correct of course in every thing you say.
Now please explain to us ...just why someone is going to the trouble of keeping MTV services active?
Oh dear guys, there is one thing you appear to be forgetting... You no longer have shares in MTV, the company folded and went into administration. (Bust, no more, all gone) So if something ever did come of anything that MTV did, you will not get a piece of it. However, you still appear to think that the TabletTV dongle was cutting edge, just take a look on the internet, type the following into google or Amazon "Apple and Android TV Tuner - Geniatech MyGica® WiTV - Watch Live Freeview on Smartphones and Tablets for iPhone/iPad(WiTV for DVB-T) " Its old tech. What did MTV do with it? They changed the interface slightly, but that is it. Go on any aeroplane today and you will find they all offer an ondemand video stream. BBC iplayer allows you to download and watch later. MTV spun a line that they were doing something extraordinary, many people fell for it, crist, even I did at the start, but silly me, did my research after I invested and realised, t was all smoke and mirrors. Got out with a loss. Stop falling in love with the idea that MTV had something.... They did not. If they did, they would not have folded. (By the way, MTV Ireland, the film maker is still going strong, they kept that very separate to this. )
Not sure skyliner but people are using it currently on social media in different situations.
I was meaning it in the context as this is going to be MASSIVE or nothing, can’t see it being anything in between.
I believe some are in touch with MTV/EX-MTV employees who engage with them on different conversations but whenever they have mentioned MTV, they just clam up and silence, these same employees in all their social media postings have never mentioned MTV once.
Another good sign, NDA’s in place?...............
Many thanks to you both for that influx of posts. Yes I did think someone had found something when I saw 16 posts, encouraging all the same.
Shaa, " hit BIG or go home" is that a Baseball saying?
These gateways were forecast to arrive at CES 2020... i cannot see any reference to them being exhibited...so still to arrive.
i was wondering why their has not been an influx of South Korean tvs and tuners seeing they have been using atsc 3 since 2016/17...apparently its a slightly different format and will not work in the USA.
So possibilities are still there.
Who knows how this will end Parkez, you currently hold shares or are locked out.
Either way I feel this is the year, make or break.
haha i was thinking that...well shaa we two have done our bit today to keep this forum alive!
Will wait patiently...as they say not long now (maybe)
Yes, it seems many are currently doing/about to do what MTV talked about.
Anyway, at least our convo has ticked up the post counter on this thread, I bet those tuning in and seeing 14 posts at the top of the page must think it’s news, lol.
I was never really a believer of the Apple MTV connection but the Apple patent that was circulating recently that was identical to Content Express was persuasive.
Also, as one shareholder pointed out, add the fact of what Apple are doing and their delays and timings similar to MTV, it’s frightening.
Len is very well known and connected, that there is no doubt, once using Geoffrey Reisis, who is king of broadcasting, to open doors for MTV.
" When you’re watching TV on your iPad through TabletTV, you’re actually watching a signal that’s been snared by the Tpod, slung to your wireless router, then streamed through your home’s network. "
Too much of a coincidence surely, development started similar times and the result is the same product as the envisaged tuners/gateways coming!
Given Lens contacts in the TV industry and reputation for foresight ...makes you wonder.
I think the possibility is there.
