Is there any possibility that Malawi will do a deal with anyone else - the Chinese, for instance?
Nope, we have the licence for that particular site/land.. should something like that happen we're protected by the law of the land and other international laws. No one would do business with the country if that was possible.
Thanks Bladey. Been nagging at the back of my mind for a while. Glad to get the right answer.
Been nagging at mine too. So hopefully this is purely a % negotiation now. No doubt Malawi really turning the nipple clamp.
This isn't a positive Malawi Mining article but gives an insight into what's going on
https://www.investigativeplatform-mw.org/2023/01/26/new-mining-wealth-mining-companies-to-pay-law-firms-to-advise-government-on-deal/
Good find crumbs.
There'll always be accusations of corruption flying around given Malawi's past, but Malawi finding and paying for other lawyers might not solve that. If there's corruption, it'll find a way whoever's acting and whoever's paying the bills. Lean on those other lawyers for example. I doubt Malawi will get anything better straighter and cheaper than MKA DWF and Trinity and the current bill paying arrangement though.
The bit I like most in this article is MKA having made a rutile discovery expected to fetch billions...
I think this an excellent professional way to negotiate that should give both stakeholders a win/win deal which is what you want as the relationship is ongoing - its not 100% guaranteed to work but its a great model for all to "cover their behinds" while getting mutual benefits.
Missed the Rutile deposits - thats very rare.
Agree. And getting MKA to pay for established international firms (with their own reputations to uphold) to advise Malawi is more likely to prevent corruption than lead to it.
Yep, having two international firms is clever. They will want use this as a blueprint for further work. And they are hardly likely to collude and risk both firms existence. Defo worth waiting for perfect deal.
Placement shares. Where have they gone?
1) vol pre placement v low so little if any forward selling
2) TSX shares have 3 month lock in from issue - late feb - any way to find out split?
3) None of major shareholders have issued any TR - v long time
Maybe they all took up the placement in ratio to their prior holdings.so maintaining reportable stakes? Having no TRs for this long from 6 companies and I individuals ( and exHSBC boss) to reflect dilution is strange.
More sticky than it appears. Bodes well.
Shorts or Pi's running for the door?
Can't believe it's down here with whats on offer!!!!!!!
GL.
As soon as you sell they'll drop the MDA ;)
Dont worry guys it is what it is, we have bear markets and bull markets, sure I would love to sell the top of a bull market an d buy the bottom of the bear market every time but its never going to happen, we will all (hopefully) be thanking the market for these prices in due course, I still recall the days when we dropped to 2.75p ask, if only I added more back then (100K shares for £2750 anyone!)
We know we have something special here, we have two plants fully funded with a total funding value in excess of £12m GBP, we own 49% and 66% of that
We have great team / partner in Cotec, we are fully funded thanks to the raise and closure of the cotec deal (£3.5m and £1.5m) and we have an asset with a NPV of $559m give or take, even if we sold that for 5% of NPV it would cover our current market cap (and that would be absurd) as we have spoken about on here, once the MDA lands then we will likely look to cash in hopefully for 20% of NPV or thereabouts (~$100m USD) but even half of that is a 2x on todays SP, with no value attributed to Maginito
The future is good here, even if the short term valuation is a bit depressing
Once the MDA lands - i wouldn't be surprised to see a stake being taken by a major.
That Kossam Munthali wants to pipe down though. Honestly, I wonder if we’ll see the MDA signed this year..
