I have to repost this, brilliant from ResearchAnalyst:- Private investors can learn a great deal from physicists. Indeed, legendary investor Jim Rogers modelled his entire investment strategy on Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion: For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Yes, you guessed it right; Jim Rogers was a contrarian investor. As a rule of thumb, contrarian investors typically seek opportunities within companies that have been subjected to an indiscriminate sell-off despite sporting strong fundamentals. Such is the state of play for Malaysian-based MayAir Group (LON:MAYA). The clean air technology specialist has, over the last year, been the subject of unwarranted, indiscriminate selling (mainly on the back of unfounded and misplaced media bias by so called ‘China bears’) despite: • It being a 15 year-old, well-established Malaysian blue chip. • Delivering revenues of $63.6 million, EBITDA of $9.05 million, and profit after tax of $6.30 million in its last trading update (signed-off by the highly-respected London firm Crowe Clark Whitehill) • Delivering a strong performance, year-on-year, with significant growth and an excellent pipeline of prospects for 2016 (in 6 Asian countries – not just China). • It being spearheaded by the ruthlessly ambitious, ex-Unilever boss, Martin Bloom. The shrewd and uber-smart chairman sports 40 years’ experience in strategic partnering, technology commercialisation and business strategy. More to the point, though, monsieur Bloom has a spectacular track record of delivery, having built Chinese solar wafer manufacturer ReneSola from a $5 million business to over $1 billion within five years! The company is currently listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: SOL). • It boasting a star-studded shareholder base featuring Invesco (11.75%), Standard Life Investments (4.5%), Capita Trustees Ltd (6%), and Malaysian tycoon Tommie Goh (3.2%). Impressive fundamentals? I think so. And so do Invesco, Capita, Standard Life, and the spectacularly wealthy Tommy Goh: http://investors.mayairgroup.com/securities-information/ I mean, think about it for a moment……. Why would the likes of Invesco, Capita, and Standard Life be invested in MayAir Group? What do they know that the herd doesn’t? Well, as legendary investor Carl Icahn once put it, “It’s the fundamentals stupid!”
Do we think Cantor are already buying or has the SP gone up on the news that Cantor are gonna start buying?
£1.37 is the target set by company to achieve
Lucky you 92.1 for me
now offered 10k at 91.5p...
What size have you guys been able to deal at? Just tried 6k to see what would happen and offered at 91-but 5% spread +. I would like to go for more but 'normal'size is shown as 1500...
They are not interested in getting the shares cheaper. The idea of the buy back is to get the share price upto at least £1.37 . The company believes it is intrinsically undervalued and they are spending £5 mill and some to get it up.
A day traders dream mind you, up and down like a yoyo and it will be like this until cantor have finished the buy back.
Don't think its a PI,could be broker dropping the price to collect cheaper shares
Cant really understand why any PI is selling when they know that Cantor is going to buy upto £1.37 and the aim of the buyback is to rerate the companies stock to at least this level.
bless em back up and that speeding ticket used ... we all know why it has riseb
Sneaky sneaky... Gl
I think the market makes them release it because of the 100% increase over 3 weeks
That's an odd statement?! They don't know of the reason - they are buying back the shares?!
Ouch?
The Board of Directors of MayAir notes the rise in the Company's share price and confirms that it knows of no reason for the price movement. As announced by the Company on 5 August 2016, MayAir has recently commenced a share buy-back programme following the approval granted by its shareholders at the Group's annual general meeting earlier this year.
By the way like the mm shake and no one sold!
I agree. The traders haven't arrived yet, but the top riser will get people watching. Like I say, I wonder when the company buys on open market?
