The new Greenhill Data Centre ("GDC") is the Company's third data centre, in addition to existing facilities in Douglas North and Douglas Central, and is located near to Manx Telecom's headquarters in Douglas. Today's announcement marks the completion of Phase One at the GDC at a cost of £3.5 million and will see 100 racks of storage space become available to a wide variety of businesses based on and off the Island. This additional capacity increases the total storage space to 385 racks. Phases Two and Three, which are due for completion in 2015 and 2016, will add a further 120 and 320 racks and cost £1.5 million and £5.0 million respectively, making GDC the biggest data centre on the Island in terms of rack space. Manx Telecom's data centres at GDC and Douglas North are ranked as Tier III data centres (according to Telecommunications Industry Association standards). This provides high standards of data security, resilience, and expandable hosting capacity, including business continuity and distributed denial of service protection. The Company's data centres already provide hosting services for many leading private sector brands. Mike Dee, CEO of Manx Telecom, said: "The data centre market represents an important growth opportunity for Manx Telecom and today's announcement helps to consolidate our position as the leading provider of data centre services on the Isle of Man. It means we now have the only twin Tier 3 data centre set-up with direct connectivity on the Island, providing a uniquely resilient data hosting proposition. Stuart Paul, Manx Telecom Data Centres Director, said: "The Greenhill Data Centre will significantly increase our capacity to provide hosting and managed services solutions in the eGaming, big data and cloud sectors - all of which are important for the continued growth of the Island's economy. We're pleased with the interest in GDC to date and look forward to welcoming our first customers next week" -Ends- For further enquiries, please contact: Manx Telecom plc +44 (0) 1624 636400 Mike Dee, Chief Exe
