Truly transformational! but will not be released to us until after the egm and it is all signed, but have a feeling the market will act positively to this news, especially with H&W included in the consortium. REmarkable.
1st boat to be finished by 2023 so the H&W boys should be kept busy - great news for U.K. ship building. Look forward to hear what share we will get - only £1.25 billion to share out !!
Brilliant news on Babbers Speedy “ “The frigates will be assembled at Bab****’s Rosyth facility, and involve supply chains throughout the UK, in line with the UK’s shipbuilding strategy.”
Thanks Radders and Snowman, will read through it when I have a minute.
Last sentence of the article below is key I believe..........
Bab****’s consortium includes Thales and BMT, as well as Ferguson Marine, based in Port Glasgow, and Harland and Wolff in Belfast.

News should soon reveal what, if any, pieces of the pie will be awarded to H&W under the new National shipbuilding strategy.......exciting times indeed.

Snowy. Thks, I've done more research since posting and it's clear now 42 day consultation must accompany all EIA applications.
The 28 days is just for initial screening......we passed that many years ago and we are on the register.
The 42 days is for notice in local newspapers and consultation to statutory authorities and general public.
Kibuc. I agree it seems confusing especially once you read this from your linked marine licence application guidance.......
3.3 The Application Consultation Process
The application will not be classed as formally submitted until all supporting documentation has been received and is adequate. The case officer will then send the case out to consultation. The application consultation period is 28 calendar days from the date of the consultation request.
The answer to life, the universe and everything is 42, but the question is unknown.
The actual 42 days is specified in the secondary legislation i..e. The Marine Works (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2007, which sets out how to implement the primary legislation (The Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009).
Consultation on proposed regulated activity
17.—(1) The appropriate authority must either—
(a)supply the following material to such of the consultation bodies as it considers appropriate—
(i)a copy of the application;
(ii)a copy of the environmental statement;
(iii)a copy of any further information supplied by the applicant to the appropriate authority; and
(iv)a letter stating that any representations in response to consultation regarding the application should be made in writing to the appropriate authority, at an address specified by the appropriate authority, within 42 days from the date of the letter (or such longer period as may be agreed between the consultation body and the appropriate authority in accordance with paragraph (2)); or
(b)direct the applicant to do so.

> 42 days is enshrined in legislation
I know it seems to be the common knowledge here, but I'd really like to see a link supporting that. I haven't found any mention of that in DAERA guidance:
https://www.daera-ni.gov.uk/sites/default/files/publications/doe/marine-licensing-guidance-overview-and-process-under-part-4-marine-and-coastal-access-act-2009-may-2016.pdf
42 days is enshrined in legislation and cannot be expedited under ANY circumstance.
But WILL happen in its due course, Our coming 3p offer is a superb last chance to top up to the hilt,
THIS COMPANY WILL EVENTUALLY BE BLUE CHIP IMO.
GLA!!!
I agree due process will be followed but an expedited process was in our gift from the EU being PCI but as yet not experienced.
Wouldn't expect anything other than due process. Lot's watching the outcome.
But in the current climate, that's politicaly not meteorologicaly, who knows what deals are struck within the corridors of power. Saying that, if we do get a severe winter as is being touted, that'll focus some of them on energy security.
I have a funny feeling this may be expedited, Given current events and dependancies, also it is the minister that signs this one off. A lot riding on it from a lot of stakeholders.
So given those timescales and factoring in Christmas and New Year, sometime in the middle/end of January.
Guess we will have a few more boxes ticked by then, with any luck.
Cheers.
42 days Si
Thanks Tango. Am I right in thinking that the public consultation takes around 40 days?
I believe they have 30 days to review, so two weeks left. then public consultaion...
Thanks Radders.
So, DAERA received the updated documentation and assessments at the end of last month and released this update as of yesterday. What we don't know is hold long they would normally take to review the information and decide. One way or the other. Given that they have had the for two weeks already.
Anyhoo, it's something positive, while's we sit in the doldrums waiting on news of the OO. And other stuff. :)
Reagrds all, Si.
You are right and I stand corrected.
Apologies to all for misreading the DAERA Q&A.
