yes Blackwood, totally agree.
Also exclusivity with SD will improve IDPs hand in discussions regarding shelf space and promotions on other brands (Roots and ST) which will only benefit revenues too.
For example Roots was always top shelf 1st year (best eye line position), but after exclusivity expired and wasn't renewed suddenly went to bottom shelf. Notice this was crept back up recently. These things make a difference. Similarly promotion space for ST is critical during peak tanning but is difficult to obtain. I am sure this will have been included in exclusivity discussions.
Same will happen with Boots and Wonder Serum. If this remains exclusive to Boots next year too IDP will make sure Boots allow other products (e.g Protect & Glow etc) on the shelves - e.g. recent extra shelf space for Roots was probably on the back of ST success
Yes, first year 1 or 2% would be a decent and conservative return, especially if the product is 'different' from the current offering, as has been mentioned.
It is closely aligned to ST customer base so as Boon has mentioned if we cross sell to ST customers (600k) and 10% buy £10 that's £600k DTC revenue without doing much work
wow - just checked online and this gift set is now sold out. Has been selling more than 100 a day every day since launch. If this success is replicated in stores then my estimate of 20,000 units might be on the low side.
All looking quite positive for IDP at the moment across all brands
Just nipped into a smaller Boots (has ST not Roots) at lunchtime today and was very pleased to see the ST gift box displayed right next to the till (6 in total)
I must admit I thought these might only be in the larger ones, but it appears not.
Based on what i've seen in stores and online sales (checked last few days and it's over 100 sold each day, assuming this indicator gets updated) I think the larger stores have at least 20 each (that's what I've seen on shelves) and maybe 10 for the smaller I think this limited addition gift set could have 20,000 units (assuming minimum of 500 each of the big and smaller stores) including online purchases.
At £15 a pop for IDP that's a respectable £300k. Maybe it will encourage Boots to do something else with ST in the run up to xmas (although suspect this would already need to be in the pipeline - so may need to wait until next year).
All good progress though which will hopefully will be reflected in AGM statement next week
Can't disagree too much with that. I suppose the unknown is how many Boots actually ordered. I can't see us manufacturing any more within the time frame. I'd say it's 10,000 units minimum. But hopefully more.
ok assuming Boots is only for 2 weeks - say 2 sales per day from 500 stores (on display as you come in store etc) plus 100 online = 1,100 a day. Over 14 days that's c£230k.
Then SD do a £25 gift set (similar to summer offering) so £10 to IDP.
500 stores sell 1 a day for 7 weeks running up to xmas =£245k.
So almost £500k on gift sets alone, and assumes no other Boots offering after 5/11.
For comparison IDP had no retail ST gift set income last year.
Maybe Boots want to mix their promotions around? Also if you put a limited time on an offer I expect it drives up demand. If customers are aware it's only there for a short time they're more likely to make an impulse purchase.
Also we highlighted a superdrug limited edition range and gift set for Christmas. So that should be out soon.
odd, why would it only be available for 2 weeks? You'd think it would have to be available throughout December in Boots :/
It's only going to be available till the 5th of November.
My gut says the superdrug Christmas range will come out shortly afterwards.
Popped in to my local 'big' Boots last night and was pleased to see the ST gift bag not only in store but really well displayed at the end of 2 separate aisles, one in the gift section and one also by the entrance to the shop.
Again the online display say over 100 sold in last 24 hours.
If say 500 bigger stores sell 1 each a day for the next 8 weeks and c£15 a bag for IDP I reckon that's over £400k revenue on 1 product from 1 retailer. Maybe £500k with online sells too. Really impressive.
Very promising - Each time I've had a look it states '100+ people looking at this'. November/December should definitely be a real revenue bumper compared to last year. With retail & DTC both firing on all cylinders it could pass all our expectations!
Just clicked on the Boots ST gift set and it says over 100 sold in last 24 hours. Great stuff

Both SD and Boots did ST gift sets over the late summer period and it appears both are doing so at xmas too.
Great idea. I do remember the SD one had a sticker on it saying exclusive to SD - so maybe included the Mositure Mousse which it has exclusivity on.
Boots really focus on gift sets at xmas - loads of the larger stores dedicate a large % of floor space to this so it's good that ST is involved and of course will add revenues during off peak season (although margins will be less).
wow, nice. These should go like hotcakes over the x-mas period. I have vivid images of the xmas shopping mayhem in Boots Bristol!
18 sold on Boots online already this morning.
Looks good. They've previously mentioned a gift set for superdrug not Boots. So either they've got it mixed up or both Boots and Superdrug will have gift packs. That should ensure a decent uplift to last year's first half sales.
I noticed on the ST Instagram story 'influencers' were promoting a ST package, several ST products in a silver leather bag, which is being launched at the end of this month & is exclusive to boots. They proceeded in mentioning that it would be ideal for xmas - Boots are renowned for their 3 for 2 deal over xmas, hopefully this will be included.
Just one thought for the new product launch - I saw an exfoliating brush included in one post by ST, an 'exfoliating' range would make sense in terms of the link to ST & ST users.
