11% turnover increase, more depots this year, good first quarter. BUT, my local depots seem even more active at the end of april than they were in february. Does it for my portfolio with talk of expansion into europe. BUY
Howdens were performing exceptionally well during the recession, imagine how the company is doing now with the UK economy growing strongly. I would expect tomorrow’s results to show further sales growth and have taken a position accordingly.
Buying a kitchen from howdens. Really impressed with customer service and planning. Did have another famous DIY store round to quote and they were worlds apart. Couldn't fault Howdens. Sales guy said they are doing really well in his depot. Great company and growing.
Odey Asset Management LLP have increased their shareholding past the 5% disclosure point on 25.04.14 according to today's RNS. This is a progressive company that suits my portfolio at this price. Buy buy buy.
A friend drove past two depots in the North last week and the car parks were packed. I visited my local depot on Saturday and they were equally as busy. New depots opened and new products. I sold this share back in February, but I am buying back in, in the hope that the obvious healthy business is reflected well in the figures and forecast for the year at the AGM. This is a good growing business in my opinion and the share price could start to improve again nicely. Buy, buy, buy.
Where did Kingfisher come from? The only ref I can find is back in 2004
Where did that come from?
Lacroix, why will this share drop to below £3?
I am pausing, and I want to be honest after praising this company. Share price has risen on merit to this point but I now think the current results are in the price.Do not see the management giving funds to us shareholders they probably will hold it for expansion-might be a better dividend but this price reflects it now.I sold yesterday,I will wait for the results and reinvest below £3.00
No excuses that I watch this company closely,it is in my portfolio. Results soon, but there is more.I am confident the figures will be at the upper end of forecast as suggested in November release, but this company has moved on.Local depot attended new product roadshow recently, they were buzzing with confidence yesterday.Expansion into other markets still obvious, more depots in UK this year. Does it still for me. BUY BUY BUY Dividend increase?
Note your comments about door discounts. But,list and trade price will always be different. Tradesmen need big "discounts"to cover their business costs and pricing strategy - customers need to see good value when they pay.
While I wouldn't disagree with your assessment of HWDN, I would just add that they do not sell to the public. You can go and have a look around, speak to their - in our experience - very helpful and knowledgeable staff, and decide what you would like. But the purchase has to be made through your Builder's or other Tradesman's account, though as we found out, once they know who you are using it is a simple case of paying cash for things booked out on their account. And you certainly wouldn't want to pay their list price, our Builder was able to get £408 Dordogne Oak doors for £108 - a near 75% discount!! ATB
Berenberg Bank new coverage today 390p.Momentum is growing but the fundamentals are the same- good company ,good and lucky management, very good products, motivated staff. VISIT A DEPOT NEAR YOU.A sound growing company. Results due end Feb. BUY BUY BUY
Anyone have any ideas on whether the recent drop back will reverse, the closer we get to feb 27th? i know the fall is due to wider activity in the markets but still have belief in this share.
It seems it will be another 12 months before it goes in .
Any chance of this successful company going into the FTSE next Monday , 23rd December?
Local store manager said "hard to keep up with the demand"yesterday. There must be good business expansion news soon and I forecast an increased dividend Christmas bonus. This is a good company going places.I am backing it. BUY BUY BUY

WOW- even better than expected. Early reporting of "period 11" performance because it is so good This is a company going places - see the mention of France? expansion into Europe must be next. Anyone like to bet against a dividend increase? BUY BUY BUY whilst you still can.
Cheers will look later today.
Great post Ezhik. So many investors might improve their investment success by actually going and looking at the companies in action - and then investing ,or not.Remember Electronic Boutique? you couldn't get in the shop for customers- share price went vertical.Next fashion store-same story. I have just done similar with EDEN RESEARCH it just seems so obvious.Mixing computer research with actual looking and "smelling" a company does it for my investment strategy. HOWDENS depots? Full as an egg. BUY BUY BUY.
