Hi Haggis Trap. Spark Energy is indeed an interesting neighbour. They have the neighbouring licences, but seem to be hawking around for someone to farm in and fund developments. If at some future point HUR did link into the WOS gas pipeline, then that would appear to cross Spirit’s blocks. So if they do progress to drilling, then some form or mutually beneficial partnership would indeed be possible. BUT - who will come up with the £££ for Spirit to make any progress at this time? How long before the OGA starts asking them to do something? More questions than answers, but worth tracking for sure.
Interesting on many levels :
1) Spark believe that Bader is extension of Halifax
2) They clearly believe in fractured basement, partly based on progress made by HUR
Does anyone know who is funding Spark ?
Thanks Sailplane,
I found a relevant link to Spark Energy back in January and posted on here.
From what I was able to discern from the article, Spark have strong financial backers and for me they could very well be the partner to replace Spirit should matters change?.
'Managing director Matt Szwedzicki said there has been “a lot of interest” since launching the process in July, supported by BMO Capital Markets, particularly from companies who have been closely watching the work of Hurricane, pioneers of the fractured basement play in the UK.
He said: “We’re about as confident as we can be in terms of well location and everything else so we’re ready to move to that next step, which really is planning the drilling.'
'Mr Szwedzicki said Hurricane had “ticked box after box” in overcoming uncertainty around the untested fractured basement plays in the region.'

Excellent link Sailplane! Thank you.
Sailplane - Interesting reading, and very complimentary to HUR.
On topic subject comment, for a change.
Thanks for that.
For those who haven't seen this yet - a presentation, (with quite a few cross references to Hurricane) by our recent neighbour on the Rhona Ridge: the private company - Spark Exploration.
