Ten minutes before I sign in to my late-night online poker tournament, but another thought has occurred to me here, while banging on the keyboard.
I've kept the same thread-header, but maybe should have started a new one called simply 'closing price'.
I wonder. Could it be because of news regarding the 'interventions' on GLA doing the rounds? Or simply people thinking 'I wouldn't want to be IN this over the weekend'?
Either way, it's rather interesting.
Monday is obviously going to be mayhem! The opening price could go either way. All of Monday, come to that, methinks. Going to sit on my hands 'til Tuesday or Wednesday...
The permits have just been applied for, the Seawell in Aberdeen port so we may get an update from Hur before it moves as we will due an update at end of month or we will see where it goes and can workout what its doing...hopefully it is just a "tidying up" ops
lonestag (et al),
The 'Seawell' is almost legendary, definitely the first of its kind, and great to see she's still working, despite age. I recall seeing her in Aberdeen port during one 'oil slump' year (1988, I think) when I was on a brief visit there. Impressive piece of kit.
This is a part of my reply via PM to someone I was with in correspondence earlier today on the subject.
"My gut feeling is that it may possibly for doing some well abandonments. Whirlwind has to be abandoned now the license has been relinquished. Lancaster 4z has been left suspended for years, but is now serving no purpose. And Dr T has indicated that whatever happens next on Halifax will be with a new well rather than a re-entry of the old one.
A 'tidying up' operation."
I underline that this is purely a guess on my part. If I'm right, though, it's quite doubtless OGA-related, and possibly some sort of 'new requirement'. I don't know if regulations have been changed recently or not.
I must admit to some wishful thinking, that being that OGA might have declared themselves willing to grant a Lincoln suspension extension (for technical, even downright 'scientific' reasons) in exchange for Hurricane cleaning up some loose ends! But I do suspect that's just grasping at straws.
No doubt the derampers will jump on this 'news' like jackals on Monday, maybe citing it a a sign of Hurricane 'giving up'. Whereas myself, personally, imho etc., I just see it as some overdue 'housekeeping'.
And anyway, if you're planning to put your house up for sale, you want it to look spick-and-span, don't you? ;-))
Multiple uses for the ship

The Seawell is a dive support vessel, twin Bell Saturation. It is also a well intervention vessel with a sil on board capable of well slick line and E line. Its one of only two vessels capable of this. The other being the Well Enhancer both owned by Helix
thanks Aduk, i just googled the ship quickly but would like to know what others know..I just noticed the permits so just starting my research into it
Lonestag,
".the ship booked is a Dive Support Vessel"
Sorry, mate, but no it ain't! The 'Seawell' is a lot more than that.
We must have been writing at the same time, because I referred (cryptically) to those permits. And I was in PM with someone else about possible reasons behind such operations (and what thay may be) this morning. Give me a minute and I'll repost some of what I wrote to him.
New SAT permits for Well Intervention Operations, is this why sp dropped?..the ship booked is a Dive Support Vessel.
