Greta has not been seasick yet and is now unlikely to be.
I've just been taking my supper on the (rather chilly) terrace of a beachside restaurant in Royan, next to the casino. The eatery is called 'Face à New York ' ('Opposite New York '), and it is. View over the Bay of Biscay, keep going and it's the USA.
Rotten weather: overcast grey, no more than 20 degrees, seas rather high.
Couldn't help wondering if little Ms Thumsuck has found her sea-legs yet...
'I was once told that the definition of an alcoholic is someone who drinks more than his doctor.'
I had a doctor friend who did some scans for me and she advised me to take up beer-drinking and also disapproved of the fact I didn't smoke.
One of her doctor friends smoked like a chimney.
I didn't take her advice and hardly ever touch alcohol.
Any advice from a doctor, like that from a stockbroker, should be treated with caution.
Adoubleuk,”I’d like to know where i can get a free lunch .” If you go into any Gurdwara Sikh temple you will be given a free lunch or dinner and non alcoholic drinks. You won’t be asked to pray or give a donation but will have to cover your hair with a bandana which they will provide for you.The food will be vegetarian, no meat I’m afraid.Oh,before anyone jumps to conclusions about me pushing a religion,I’ve been an atheist for about 50 odd years and would never dream about setting foot inside any religious building.I have a lot of Sikh friends who have given me food from the temple and it’s always tasted yummy,Klepto.

Wellwell you say:-
"Anyway had enough of this pointless discussion."
That's rich coming from you since you were the one who started this idiotic discussion in the first place.

“Empty grandstanding “
I don’t recall anyone elevating the profile of the need for climate action other than Sir David Attenborough, than Greta. That’s the point and if she burns some carbon to make it which makes thousands or millions of others consider their environmental impact then what’s the issue?
Anyway had enough of this pointless discussion.
An idea would be to bus all the Tree Huggers to the active Volcanos currently erupting in the World, they could then march up to the top and complain bitterly at the amount of CO2 being emitted...
Hi WW. Its not a case of " getting it " ....it's just that stating the bleedin obvious isnt profound or genius . We all " get it " that a cleaner planet is better for our children and grandchildren but there is also the matter of pragmatism. Anyone can bang on about green this and environment that BUT not to actually tell us the answer to getting there is pointless. If all oil stopped flowing tomorrow there would be no food in the shops , the lights would go out and in under a week neighbour would be killing neighbour for food. We can only go at a certain pace that the infrastructure allows . Wind power etc is just not enough and with the depletion of fossil fuels Im sure there are some fabulous minds working on " actual " solutions . The likes of prince Harry and Decaprio preaching to us and then jumping on their gas guzzling planes and super yachts just gets up people's noses and problably has an adverse effect. Anyway that's my last word on it....I haven't fallen out with you over the past 4 or 5 years so will not start now . We do " get it " but lets have solitions not self promoting, empty grandstanding
If I’ve learned anything since posting on this forum, it’s that some people here just either don’t get something, or can’t get it.
Snail,
"A GP friend of mine tells all his patients to cut down on their alcohol consumption.....then goes home and drinks like a ruddy fish . Honestly it's hilarious."
I was once told that the definition of an alcoholic is someone who drinks more than his doctor.
Unfortunately (this is an utterly true story) I once had a local doctor a bit like that, who I was also a drinking-buddy with. He played the drums in a jazz quintet as a pastime, other than shamelessly womanising, which he was also quite good at. Quite a character, but died aged 56 of liver failure.
WW,
"Of course it’s for symbolism."
But right from the start, it was wrong. I have a deep mistrust of people who like puff-boats.
MCB55,
"So a bigger carbon footprint than just Greta and father flying there and back! Sailing for symbolism only!!"
Yup.
Snail, thanks for the news.
Honestly, this has made my day. What a hoot. I hope a lot of peple will be waiting on the dock wearing those red nose things.
A GP friend of mine tells all his patients to cut down on their alcohol consumption.....then goes home and drinks like a ruddy fish . Honestly it's hilarious.
it just symbolises the fact you can't have a zero carbon footprint ....it really couldn't highlight it any more forcefully.
Of course it’s for symbolism. Surely you knew that ffs?!?!
So a bigger carbon footprint than just Greta and father flying there and back! Sailing for symbolism only!!
Save the planet ....? "It has been revealed that two crew will fly to New York to bring the boat back, and it is also expected that skipper Boris Herrmann (left) and Team Malizia founder Pierre Casiraghi (middle) will fly back to Europe ." Honestly what a crock .
Aduk
Thank you kindly for today's pick. I was tempted to go with Bob and Changin in the wind - as that fits this thread more than anything. But in the spirit of anything's possible went with this instead.

The question 'is the TOL a happy rig?' I hope so.
Wellwell,
I'm back again. Earlier I posted
"Back in a while, either when I've won, or been knocked out."
And I got knocked out before the final table. Can't win 'em all!
But really, this whole 'Greta thing' isn't so Off-Topic anyway. Because she's advocating stuff which is quite contrary to the reasons why posters here (assuming they're actually invested) are trying to make money.
In fact, I do find her to be an interesting 'social phenomenon', a stick through the spokes of the establishment. And as a 'rational anarchist' I can groove with that. (Sorry 'bout the Woodstock-like language, but in a few months we can remember Altamont.)
Oh! I'm forgetting dear Albi!
Here you go... It's the weekend. Something relative to our SP...

WW,
"That’s the exact opposite of change you oldie. You’re missing the point deliberately."
Who you calling 'oldie', Oldie?
And no, I'm not.
However, must rush to my habitual late-night online poker-game, entering just before the end of the rebuy / addon period, as is my habit.
Back in a while, either when I've won, or been knocked out.
PS If online poker had existed back in the 80's, I'd never have made it further than roughneck! Ch ch ch chaanges...
That’s the exact opposite of change you oldie. That’s what we always and have always done with existing tech we are familiar with to manipulate its purpose for our own benefit. You’re missing the point deliberately.
Wellwell,
" We old fuds don’t like change "
Speak for yourself. I thrive on change! (Except the latest fad of youngsters with powerful speaker-systems hidden in a backpack broadcasting hip-hop 'music' on the streets!) Siht, what was bypassing my EGR, if not change? 'Chipping' the brains of the motor (again, done myself) made things even better!
(Please don't tell my insurance company.)
