Somebody just bought 800k buy. What do they know and who are they?
Been waiting for this for a long time, back to the days of singe digits. Used to have this as my ultimate target but that changed some time ago. Am considering selling some but would love to know what is behind this recent rise. Is this a takeover with news leaking, I wonder? we always knew it could happen but then what would the price be, 100? Those buying in now surely believe that it has much further to go. Any views? happy days!
IAG (BA etc.) announced that HRG will be the first and till now only TMC to be exempt from their new booking surcharge coming into effect november 1st. At this time it doesn't include UK but looks like it will very soon. dont know if this good news is the reason for the rise today, could be or it could be something I dont know about. In any event great to see these levels!
Thanks for this info, despite the set back today it has been a really good period and good to see that savvy investors are looking at this compnay. With their 13 % they could be the deciding factor in terms of who could effectuate a possible takeover, BCD or DNATA, Interesting times ahead
Interesting that Teleios has doubled its shareholding to just over 13% in last few months. I have seen them described as an "active" Investor - at Fenner plc they managed to get their nominee voted on to the Board.
50.000 pounds at 75, somebody believes in this in a big way!
The pound will probably only come if there is a take over. There is record activity this year in terms of mergers and buyouts in this sector, so it wouldn't surprise me the least that one of the players such as BCD or DNATA will want to strengthen their position before they are threatened by one of the expanding American or Australian conglomerates expanding globally.85 would be very nice through and might get me to ditch some, but the dividend which is pretty solid and shouldn't ever be in danger is nice as I grow closer to retirement age. As for the dividend I can see it has arrived by look at transactions but as yet not available> i am with Hargreaves.
mine has not come into my account today maybe halifax are keeping hold of it for a couple of days I think 85p is my new revised limit here and then i am out i do not think we will see the magic pound.
Lovely dividends arrived today, this year's cruise is paid for and 10% since I wrote last just over 3 weeks ago. Always liked this share and no reason I shouldn't continue to do so. Thanks, HRG, onwards and upwards, just until we see the takeover happen that we have waited for .so patiently
somebody went in and bought 1 million shares yesterday which isn't easy since there are so few in general circulation? What do they know? Slow creep back up to 70 level and then we will see!
The ex divi date has now passed and no further drops , very odd the timing of the drop but hopefully now going the way and we can look forward to a healthy dividend.
ex div is on Wednesday 29th so the recent drop is totally inexplicable. great opportunity to buy or maybe one of the suitors will jump in and get his company at a bargain basement price. Lots of deals in the UK corprate travel scene this year. Buyers from USA and Australia positioning tehmselves, this could be one that coudl rasie one of them to be truly global. beginning to beleive somebody could get this under 100 which compared to recent deals would be cheap.I have always said I will hold out for 100, might now let it go for 95, but the pric at the momnet for one of the most solid companies is crazy. at least we have the dividend to look forward which will pay for this years cruise!
Has the cut off date for the dividends gone now. I thought it was 30jun so surprised to see more sells going through??
Not to be heading Norrth, instead we are heading South. What is going on here the results were good but does the market get HRG or does it not trust them.
Yes, richly deserved I am sure although he does not actually retire until May 2018. It is just a pity that the RNS does not give any reason why on 31 May he suddenly decided to resign his board appointment on the same day. It seems to have taken the company by surprise as normally you would expect to have a replacement lined up for such a pivotal role. I am probably overreacting - the SP is holding up so investors in the company obviously could not care less.
Just to give a bit a balance...Forty something years with the same company and as COO helped to build what has become a global travel and financial technology group operating across 125+ countries...More like he deserves a retirement!
You are correct very few people in the travel business get this sort of remuneration only those that sit on high.
According to the 2016 Report he was paid £668k including bonuses so someone on the Remuneration Committee must have considered the role of sufficient importance to merit this. Should be no problem finding a willing replacement with this sort of salary on offer. I did not realise travel agency paid so well! I do not hold shares in HRG but kept it under review. Seems to be a well-managed company that has spent the last 10 years reducing the debt taken on when it originally went private, and cutting costs. I think the pension deficit would deter any acquisition interest at the present time.
yes, seems strange, could be something he has doen or something as innocent as illness, but he doenst have a very high profile so dont think it will have any effect
Sounds a bit sudden, especially as there is no mention of a successor.
somebody just bought 100.000 shares, very lucky to get it at SP 70. hard to find that many shares at all in this share. wonder if one of the 2 top shareholders is growing their holdings?
and not a bad sign taht a director buys at these levels on teh first opportunity he has after the announcement of results. will be interested if anyone else ahs view s on the results?
and my prayers were heard even if it hasnt reflected in the price yet. All indicators were Positive, profits up, dividends up, net debt down. Even more encouraging were the fact that Fraedom is now producing real profits with very good margins. Also teh forecasts for future years are more optimistic than we have seen before. The annual savings of 17 million in costs should shine through and the focus on growth in profits rather overall revenue is very welcome. Also nice to see that we have money now to invest in buying the top line in technology as the purchase of E-wings show. There were some losses of accounts in the last year but they seem to have been absorbed and in general the retention rate and customer satisfaction and retention is very high. Overall dividends close to 4% (how many companies offer that?) and no real dark clouds on the horizon. Trading already for this year reported inline with expectations and expectations are now a good increase in profits for next year. The only thing that is still baffling is that the share price doesn't reflect the results and the solid nature of this company. At this price and with these results they must be on the horizon of any company on the buying trail. We have seen both American and Australian companies showing a willingness to buy in this sector and this next year might be the year that HRG goes on foreign hands. Sad in one way as it is a proud well run british company but from a personal view these shares should be 100 and that is what I am hoping and waiting for!
results in the morning, come on HRG, no disappointments. results in line, dividends up, debt down and we should move towards 80!
for interest in run up to results in 3 weeks. 90p achievable on broker estimates with company reporting trading in line with market expectations.
