Thanks
It's rapid compared to existing technology and can be deployed at point of care an in labs so could be used in chemists our portable test centres. It probably will use saliva or a swab, definitely not blood because its not an antibody test, that's for if you have had it, not if you currently have it.
Is it Rapid Technik and does it need blood?
Cool. Thanks Technick.
From the published information 30-40 minutes, this compared to 2-3hrs for lab based qPCR
What is GDR test turnaround times?
Oh AVCT just raised £3.75m, what a surprise. If Genedrive raise more I bet its AFTER they launch a product to market, just saying
Honestly if I could see something then I'd be investing there too, but I don't. They seem to have got a large manufacture on board in then hope that manufacture leads to something sensitive, I have my doubts. I don't doubt that what they produce is specific, but that's a completely different story. GDR uses tried and tested qPCR chemistry, the go-to method of the international groups like WHO, CDC etc. My money (quite literally) is here with GDR, less risk in these times of speed and need, I wouldn't bank on something untried and untested
Me neither, GDR already have credibility in this field
Yes, but the evidence is they've never achieved a diagnostic test before, so what's different apart from the need... it would be different if they already has diagnostic tests out there, I don't see any
What exactly does it mean for GDR?....I'm still trying to get a grip on the technology story here.
Got to say GDR does look modestly valued vis a viz some of the others.
I saw this in the last rns...
"Avacta is already generating Affimer reagents that detect the COVID-19 virus and together with Cytiva will develop and manufacture a test capable of diagnosing the infection in minutes using a respiratory sample such as saliva. Cytiva will transfer this diagnostic assay onto its proprietary point-of-care test strip platform and both companies will work together to complete analytical and clinical validation of the test as quickly as possible.
Avacta will own the intellectual property relating to the COVID-19 Affimer-reagents and will retain all the commercial rights to future products. Further commercial details have not been disclosed."
I looked to see if AVCT has published any diagnostic application of their affirmer test, even for flu or something easy. Their Zika references are for the production of their agent, I don't see any saliva based rapid diagnostic test data. Can anyone? Please share!
Thanks, makes sense now. Hope they give an RNS soon...
not the same. Genedrive is a qPCR test, ultimately more sensitive than direct detection like antigen or AVCT's test. They both have their place but they will test fro different things. Have you got it or have you had it. qPCR is the most sensitive test out there, if you have just one viral RNA target in the sample you'll probably detect it!
Hey mate the reason genedrive is the best out of the bunch is they are developing two different types of tests
”The Company's first assay, already in development, is an instrument-agnostic molecular assay (the Genedrive® 96 SARS-COV-2 test) that can be performed on a variety of high throughput molecular testing platforms already installed in many laboratories around the world. The test will determine if a patient has an active SARS-COV-2 infection. The Company anticipates that a clinically validated high throughput test format could be available in approximately eight weeks.
The Genedrive®96 SARS-COV-2 test is designed as a one-step, ready-to-go freeze dried assay. Based on discussions with sizable third party suppliers the Company expects it could have the ability to ramp quickly to high production volumes of over 10,000 tests per hour, and thus this could be both a material revenue generator for the Company and significant contributor to addressing the global pandemic. Freeze dried assays require no refrigeration and are stable in transport, which is a significant logistical advantage for rapid shipment and global distribution.“
So there are two tests - one is made for laboratories around the world not just Uk based and to test for active infections fast
The second type of test can be shipped fast around the world
Notice the use of the word “world” in the rns
This is going to be massive potential x20 bagger from here since Mcap so low
I had a quick check of AVCTs RNS on their tests and it says they can give results from saliva in a few seconds. Does this have an advantage over GDR? I was thinking that we have the only point of sample test. Or is the advantage of GDRs test the way it is packaged so it can be transported in normal conditions?
I think when investors realise this one has the most upside and news anytime really , and with the fastest test GDR share price could x15 very fast
