Investing in the wrong companies. The share price falls for 10 largest companies in August alone looks pretty dire. http://www.ecofin.co.uk/eco/uploads/monthreview/EWPO_August_2015_Review.pdf
I bought into this 10mths ago, seeking to diversify my holdings in infrastructure-related funds - I have held 3In for some yrs - and thought this was well managed and hence a good addition? Views
1,6 million shares bought on 10Dec at 145p
Bought a few here. Share price at about 24% discount to Net asset value - cheap. Dividend yield nearly 5.5% per annum good hedge against deflation and in all events gives comfort and income. Largest holding Lonestar Resources producing oil at 25 dollars a barrel and 142m dollars cash in the bank written off by discount and represents just 12.4pct of portfolio. Rest of portfolio in spread of a variety of energy, power, water, renewables, infrastucture all good companies. So interesting
I post it here and I hope Ecofin's executives to read it, because Ecofin owns ~60% of Lonestar Resources (LNREF in the US, LNR.AX on Sydney).
A fourth article from SeekingAlpha (from another author) is out this morning in the US, and shows how grossly undervalued Lonestar Resources (LNREF) is at $0.4 (US listing) compared to another group of peers. This new article is also posted at Yahoo/Finance/Headlines under the ticker AMZG (American Eagle Energy Corporation). The SeekingAlpha link is below: http://seekingalpha.com/article/2274483-can-american-eagle-energy-corporation-fly-high-like-an-eagle-over-the-next-months
A third article from SA was out yesterday. It shows how dirty cheap Lonestar Resources (Ecofin's subsidiary) currently is. The article was also posted at Yahoo/ Finance/ Headlines under the ticker TRCH (Torchlight Energy Resources). Meanwhile, it shows how expensive TRCH is. The link from SeekingAlpha is below: http://seekingalpha.com/article/2275233-torchlight-exceedingly-expensive-compared-to-other-small-growing-oil-companies
If you cannot open the link from SA, you can go to Yahoo/Finance/Headlines and hit the tickers of HK, or CRZO, or CWEI or GDP. This factual article is posted there too.
SA posted another detailed analysis about ECOFIN's subsidiary Lonestar Resources and its neighbors (HK, CWEI, CRZO) at the Eagle Ford Shale. Lonestar Resources remains grossly undervalued at the current levels of $0.41 (US) and it is the cheapest one of the peer group. SA link from this article: http://seekingalpha.com/article/2267233-halcon-resources-the-high-debt-and-the-high-key-multiples-continue-going-hand-in-hand
You can also find that SeekingAlpha article about LONESTAR and ECOFIN, if you go at Yahoo Finance, and then at the headlines of Abraxas (AXAS), RSP Permian (RSPP), and Ring Energy (REI).
Oh, if you see his articles, he also recommended Salamander Energy (SMDR.L) in late October 2013 at 105 GBX which is at 145 GBX today. But I did not buy Salamander because I did not have any money at that money.
If you see his previous articles, "Value Digger" also recommended HAWK.L (Nighthawk Energy) and Caza Oil (CAZA.L) a few weeks ago. The former has risen 35% and the latter has risen 110% since his recommendations. I follow him over the last 11 months and I recommend you to do so.
For those folks who do not know it, Ecofin (ECWO) has almost 60% stake in Lonestar Resources (LNR.AX). and "Value Digger", an author from SeekingAlpha with a great track record, in his latest article explains why Lonestar Resources (LNREF, LNR.AX) is grossly undervalued currently at $0.35 Here is the link from his SeekingAlpha article: http://seekingalpha.com/article/2255893-lonestar-resources-is-the-next-multi-bagger-getting-ready-to-rock-in-the-lone-star-state
I'm still here and will be for a while. Bought this for my kids. Good long term buy.
THERE ANY BODY THERE?
Well, Rojo, your investment is looking better now. I sold mine yesterday at 145p - probably too soon - but hey ho, a profit is a profit - might look to buy in again if the opportunity arises, maybe after the "sell in May" brigade have had their way. GLA.
I've bought these little bu**ers (twice!) and sitting on large losses. Don't altogether understand why they are performing so badly. Will hold, but I think JPM1604 is being optimistic - this is one for the great grandchildren!
Can't believe it, thought I was the only one who had these. Definetly one to tuck away for the long term. Bought these for my kids.
From Joanne Hart of the Daily Mail 23.04.11. I love looking at her tips! "Meanwhile, at Ecofin Water & Power Opportunities, two directors and their associates have bought nearly ten million shares for £11.7 million. EWPO was founded in 2002 and is one of the biggest UK investment trusts. The group invests in water, electricity and gas businesses as well as alternative energy groups. It buys shares and bonds in these companies worldwide and did extremely well until the financial crisis. Since then the stock price has floundered, falling from 190p in 2008 to 1261⁄4p today. Not only are the shares lower than they were three years ago, they are also trading at a discount of more than 30 per cent to their net asset value – the value of their investments. Directors believe the shares are incredibly cheap and have put their hands in their pockets to prove it. They bought their stock at 120p a share and the recent deals are their largest purchases since EWPO was created." Dividends now paid quarterly approx. 6p/share per annum, and one for the ISA.
