The long-awaited trading update gave us exactly what we wanted, and should have propelled the SP to an all-time high - a quick comparison with Clipper shows that the SP should now be well into the 40s - and yet the SP remains in the doldrums.
Part of the problem was the unfortunate timing of the update, coming as it did on a down day in the market. And since then the share turnover has been pitifully small - especially today - which hasn’t helped.
However, the situation could change quite suddenly, as is the market's way. It just requires something to bring the company to the market's attention again, eg more director or institutional buying, or more news of contracts, depot openings etc.
Preferably all three!
Agree P.
It's been sea of RED over the past 3 days and no doubt the bloodbath that the markets experienced a couple of days ago contributed to the slight downturn of DX.
Indeed some institutional &/or directors purchases, announcements of new depot openings etc would set a new tone in terms of the SP.
Whilst I continue to stand firm with a very modest holding of £18.5K, I hope there is a positive move in the SP before the year end results are revealed followed by a further blast off.
If I recollect Ports did comment that he was monitoring the SP with interest but was hesitant to go in just yet.

Yes Deep, a bit hesistant at the moment. I think the valuation is about right. If we see some more director buying I might think again. They have said results will be out late September so the closed period starts imminently. I also wonder if any of the other directors would have followed Lloyd by now, he notified on the 5 July. There also limits on what price sensitive information they may wish to release prior to results being released.
We know new openings are coming but they may delay detailed disclosure of these under publication of the results. If they do we may see a short term small spike but it is my guess the company wouldn't like to see much change in SP prior to results publication.
I can't really see any detail in contract wins coming as to who they are.etc DX haven't really done that in the recent past and I would think they would want to play their cards close to their chest.
Incidentally I made a trip to the Airport at some god forsaken hour this morning. Unable to sleep I scanned through DX vacancies. It seems something is happening in Luton and Dewsbury. Please to see growth on M62 corridor.
Watching brief for me to see how the DX Express strategy pans out with the working capital required to support the growth.
Such an eye opener to read the possible artful designs of the boardroom.
Ports, Pianista and others, I've learned and continue to make such gainful insights.
Thank you.
I cautiously look forward to see how DXs Express strategy unfolds.
PS
Would always welcome guidance from you in relation to any other stocks which may be on your radars.
Deep, I'm not sure I'm the person to give you any guidance as we have a different strategy .... and there are lots of ways to skin a cat. !
One share I have bought alot of over the last month is SOS. I have involvement in similar work and really like their strategy and business model. The women at the top are bright and I like women in senior decision making positions and I think the world and business would be in a better position if there were. They also seem to have found a niche which is crucial. Not sure on the length of my journey as fashion is fickle but where they are on the business cycle is of interest at the moment.
No advice intended of course. its just of interest to me.
Sorry, I shouldn't have posted that.... this is a DX share chat.
Mentally and Physically frazzled and not thinking. Apologies.
Ignore my last post.
I wasn't aware it was against 'club' rules, but makes sense.
Apologies to all. Will not happen again!
If anyone is to be admonished, and I hope not, it should be solely me and no one else.
Ports my sincere apologies to you.
No Need to apologise Deep. Its only natural for less experienced investors to seek guidance from more experienced people. I've done it myself because that is one of the ways we learn.I'm inclined to help because I was helped immensely once and pointed in the right direction. Guidance is everywhere but the problem with chat boards is that you don't know who you are taking guidance from and that's a big risk.
However, one of reasons I don't post on many other boards, is that they can desend into talking about other shares and all that follows and it just becomes unproductive. To click on a chat to think somebody has something worthwhile to say and then it turns out to be a discussion about another share.
Everything you write makes complete sense Ports. Most grateful for your insight and guidance. Your kindness is palpable.
I hope one day I'll be in a position to help others.
