Reviews from journalists and users are not good. For the PS4 version, Metacritic currently has an average of 36% for critic reviews and 2.5/10 for users. PC and Xbox One look to be going the same way, as you'd expect, although not enough stats there yet. Unlike, say, Last of Us 2, this wasn't a game likely to be review-bombed for political reasons. Looks like it's just plain bad.
The writing was on the wall when no review copies were sent out prior to release. That stank of damage control.
Hi BB what savaging do you mean.
I ve not seen any reviews?
Longer-term, definitely. However, I'd expect a bumpy ride over the next couple of weeks due to the savaging the Fast and Furious game is getting in the press. Sales will look good initially due to preorders and are then likely to go off a cliff.
Codemasters (LON:CDM), the award-winning British videogame developer specialising in high-quality racing games, confirmed that trading since the start of the year has been particularly strong with revenue and adjusted EBITDA for the year ending 31 March 2021 now anticipated to be significantly ahead of current market expectations.
These revised expectations are driven by the particularly strong performance from both the latest release of F1® 2020, and the continued strength of its back catalogue of games. Fast & Furious Crossroads, which was released on 7 August 2020, has to date performed as anticipated, and pre-orders for the title launches scheduled for the remainder of the year are also in-line with expectations.
The house broker upgraded revenue forecasts for 2021 by nearly 20% to £120m, £58m of which is represented by F1. Cash EBITDA forecasts were raised 13% to £30m, which allows for higher royalty costs.
Very positive RNS !!

Part of the Buffetology stable has invested here during July due to the moat like qualities of the companies within the racing games space.
Good momentum here certainly, I guess at 5x sales it's starting to look a bit more fairly valued. I might reduce a bit above £4 perhaps....
And still trading at a hefty discount to peers..

A REVIEW

Hello all, is there an earnings RNS for CDM tomorrow?
I can only see it on the Tradingview calendar, but nowhere else.
Regards
I bought a lot of Codemasters (CDM). At the recent online seminars we kept comparing
this to T17 and Frontier Dev, and this kept coming up as the cheapest.
So I have bought quite a few as they are very liquid and easy to buy and sell a lot.
It's releasing a new Fast and Furious game in August and it has just announced a likely
lucrative deal to produce FIA world rally championship games.
And today it has announced Cars 3 will be available from August. I'd be
targetting up to a fiver in time on these shares.

Codemasters doesn’t deserve its discount, says Berenberg
Gaming group Codemasters (CDM) has added a new licence deal to its content pool that Berenberg says sets it up for a valuation rerating.
Analyst Sean Thapar retained his ‘buy’ recommendation and increased the target price from 340p to 400p. The shares were up 3% at 346p yesterday.
‘Codemasters’ multi-year licence deal with the FIA World Rally Championship adds a licensed franchise to its rapidly expanding content pool, supports its medium-term earnings growth, and poises it for a valuation rerating,’ he said.
The group is increasing revenue diversification and also has ‘the potential to benefit from the shifts towards digital sales’ and Thapar said the ‘continuing high levels of execution are undeserving of its 20% discount to peers’.

Analysts at Berenberg raised their target price on video games developer Codemasters from 340.0p to 400.0p on Wednesday, stating the group had added "an extra gear" as a result of a new multi-year licence deal.
Berenberg highlighted Codemasters newly signed multi-year licence deal with the FIA World Rally Championship as why it views it as a "solid, but underappreciated" video games company.
The German bank stated the agreement added a further licensed franchise to Codemasters' "rapidly expanding" content pool, supported its medium-term earnings growth and poised the company for a valuation rerating.
"In our view, Codemasters' increasing revenue diversification, potential to benefit from the shifts towards digital sales and continuing high levels of execution are undeserving of its 20% discount to peers," said the analysts.
In addition to upping its target price on Codemasters, Berenberg also reiterated its 'buy' rating on the firm's stock.
