what's happening with this bid
Has anyone any information on the status of this takeover or is the issue done and dusted?
There was talk of a possible higher bid - just wondered if there was any update or rumour.
The fast approaching 5th April makes the timing of these things a problem.
I have held for years ,since Biocompatobles days, & this has been a great long term investment for me & 840p would give me a superb return .However.no one wants to sell any asset too cheaply & I am hoping that another bidder (or ideally more than one) will emerge early in 2019.Boston intend disposing of divisions surplus to requirement & ,IMHO,they are essentially asset stripping & will possibly be left with what they really want for almost nothing.I appreciate that it gives our Dame a great exit & enables her to semi retire a very wealthy lady who will then,no doubt,be inundated with interested Non Exec rules & improve the quality of her life substantially . I only hold around 25% of my highest holding but would prefer 900p + if that is what we are worth -so come on GSK etc-step up to the plate & pay the price for quality .
Just noticed the stock price move late today on good volume. Has that rather warm feeling of a counter bid coming doesn’t it?
If ,as has been suggested ,Boston are acquiring BTG as they want part of the company which only represents about 40% of value, I presume they will dispose of the parts which are surplus to requirement & hope to generate a profit on the disposals - essentially asset strip & keep the parts they want + profits on disposals. With the weaker £ it will cost them less in $ terms & there must be a fair chance of a counter bid to force the price up .Woodford & our Board may be happy with 840p but if we are worth 925p or more ,why would we not want it .Lets hope that slide rules 9 for our older readers) are being flexed as we speak
Oh joy, had cancelled my previous limit sell and due to foibles of ii not letting you immediately rebook if the market is closed, I hadn't set a new sell. Anyone else spot these differences between platforms? Some let you cancel limits out of hours and you immediately have all your funds / stock back in play. Others only cancel the order during market hours. Not convenient (most of the time) for those of us who work during the day and adjust buys and sells in the evenings.
Absolute tragedy that yet another high-skill, high-value UK firm is being sold off abroad on the cheap, taking all the future profit and knowledge with it. British business culture is a total mess.
Been in BTG for many aeons. Totally annoyed with it oscillating sideways for the last few years. Finally my frustration is coming to an end with a decent uplift on what I had relegated to "dog share". Do now wonder, sitting here at work, if I've been limit traded out at a ludicrously low price. Will have to logon later to see.
Thus ends my very long association following the acquisition by BTG of my Biocompatible shares, many many moons ago.We can always hope for a higher counter bid but my current ( original holding )represent 12 bags & I am not complaining, particularly as I had many more shares which I sold at higher prices so BTG has been a great investment over the years & good luck to all who have exited well.
Very positive + great to see our SP response following a long period in the "wilderness"
yes and BTG could be FTSE 100 company one day .
It seems the Technical Analysis failed for last 3 days' price movement.
After today's action it's definitely a breakout, and with reasonable volume too.

Who would have believed it - profitable by 19/20 with expected revenues in the high tens of millions of $ !
Surely our SP will react positively to that news -apart from a generally very positive update
Curiously the £150m impairment is the same amount they paid for Pneumrx,as an initial payment.I think these Pneumrx widgets should be nominated for an award namely "The most expensive widgets ever".If they sold 15 then that would make them cost £10m each!
Totally fed up with it, lost all faith in it, sold out at a profit but seems to be nothing but bad news from them all the time lately.Big mistake made with pneumrx imo. enough to make me jump ship and also after reading their latest whingeing updates all I could find was bad news.Totally fed up.Good bye Btg plc.
It seems crazy to me that they paid that much for a company that makes coils that can be fitted inside the airways in the lungs of Emphysemia sufferers to keep them open.I think they have made a huge mistake on this, 475K would have been a high price. What were you thinking Btg.I can see you having to write this off as a total loss!!!!!!
At least you seem to be doing well with Tesco?
Could be in the red today
Not sure which way this is going to go so I'm out for now but will try and catch it back on the way up (whenever that is?!!)
When did they last use it? Do you have ant thoughts on the SP today, looking like a 52 week low is round the corner
This needs to be the last time we hear this word being used by Btg.Instead we need more realistic earnings forecasts. If it were to be used again it would be detrimental for its P.I.'s!
Crawling our way back
Only about 1.5m volume today so far suggests the share might drop tomorrow or investors are running out of money
