NellyB... haha that confused me for a second- I was just on the braveheart forum when your post popped up...
jono44 - normally a rig or drillship would go straight to the drilling location and fly out any customs or government representatives necessary for approvals before commencing operations. Going into a port is unnecessary as fresh food and supplies will be delivered to the drillship by supply boats, and the drilling crews and service hands flown to and fro by helicopter.
I'm just taking a browse through the 2655 page EA produced for the P1 well. Some notable figures on the chance of spills, page 1229:
".7.1.1 Leaks and Spills (including Blowouts)
In the North Sea (UK and Norwegian waters) and US Gulf of Mexico Outer Continental Shelf (US GoM OCS), there have
been a total of 292 blowouts between 1980 and 2014 (Table 5) (SINTEF, 2014). 31.5% of these (92) occurred during
exploration drilling. The frequency of loss of well control incidents in North Sea and US GoM OCS during drilling between
1980 and 2011 is 3.31 incidents per 1,000 wells drilled, or 0.331% chance (Table 6).
The number of all spills (any kind of substances, such as fuel, chemicals or drilling fluids) from platforms (not only blowouts)
by volume in the US GoM OCS between 1964 and 2013 are provided inTable 7. As noted in the table, only 0.77% of all spills
were over 1,000 barrels (bbl), and 79.5% of the spills were between 1 and 9 bbl. Causal factors, small spills frequency
compared to loss of well control events, and effects of hurricanes on spill frequencies are shown in Figure 6 to Figure 11.
Spill frequencies decreased rapidly in the 1970s and 1980s as equipment failure rates decreased. There have only been 17
spill events over 1,000 bbl in US GoM OCS between 1964 and 2015, of which six were as a result of hurricanes. Only two
events have resulted in such spills since 1980: hurricane Rita in 2005 (resulted in 3 spills over 1,000 bbl) and Deep water
Horizon in 2010"
This puts into perspective just what a freak incident the Deep water Horizon was.
What does it mean though James............?
from their side sounds credible, but in reality.............. it's a final chuck of the dice that will amount to nothing..............!
All the best (but where's Legalease when ya need him........ :()
something similar to what I said in not so detailed wording, but got deleted by admin for spelling FATAL in 2 halves
From a previous appeal by Mr Smith....just a snipit
Bulletin boards are a bit like Chinese whispers?.
Although retired now for over 3 years I've had over 40 years working offshore digging ditch 35 of them in a supervisory role and I can tell you the last place a Drilling Contractor or Operator wants a rig is tied up alongside!!.
I quote from the operational update, 17th Nov
“The Stena IceMAX, one of the most technically capable drill ships in the world, has completed all necessary vessel and equipment inspections, and is scheduled to leave dock in The Canary Islands before the end of November 2020, heading to location in preparation to drill the well”
Just because it states on a shipping screen Freeport I will be very surprised if the Ice Max does not head straight for location and takes on spud equipment and supplies from a supply vessel close to location. As it says in the RNS, funding update equipment is coming out of the states.
There is no gain whatsoever to go into Freeport. In fact Freeport is RISK.
I have been in this share pre DWH and still have every confidence we will be spudding this year.
I could be wrong but that the way I see it
GLALTH.

The Court of Appeal’s orders disproportionately impede its right of access to the courts," RDA's papers argue. "In the Bahamas there is no legal aid and conditional fee agreements are unlawful.... Nevertheless, the Bahamian courts appear to deny the constitutional right of access to the court".
#It is aiming to overturn a Court of Appeal judgment written earlier this year by its president, Sir Michael Barnett, who declined to grant “leave to appeal” to the Privy Council on the basis that the case raised no issues of legal or general public importance.
#While “security for costs” is often demanded in legal actions alleged to be frivolous, or have a small chance of success, the Government has increasingly employed this tactic when facing Judicial Review challenges to permits and approvals granted to developers.
#Some, including Mr Smith, view it as a tactic designed to knock-out such litigation at an early stage, and avoid a trial on the substantive issue, given expectations that those bringing Judicial Review actions lack the financial means to sustain them.
I do like an optimist.
Glad we are in the same camp.
Icemax arrives in the port on 15th December but the big question is when does it leave to go drilling.
That's the time I'll top up.
Peter......... "Maybe the Court will simply issue a statement that this matter can now only be dealt with (i.e. Judically Reviewed) after the Xmas shutdown, and therefore the spud in December will be unaffected. This solution will neatly avoid the Court having to cave in to the cynical timing of this request, and will get the Court off the hook from making a ruling pre spud that would have been criticised by whoever the review went against."
wouldn't look good on the courts or the Bahama judicial system.............!
All the best (best to read it, then throw it out................ right in their faces........ :()
This could be something meaningful, in a very positive way.
Atb.
I like to call it, a very thin glass ceiling stepup............ :()

All the best (3.70p will be a bit thicker, and will be broken....... :()

Hmm, isn't it illegal for Bahamian residents to gamble in casinos
I suppose there will be some sort of demonstration organised when Icemax reaches the Bahamas - if they can drag themselves out of the casino.
TRP/BPC
that hammer is it big enough for the bric kwall at 3p
Has to be

So far it’s a hammer let’s see how we finish today
Is that a tip Nigel.................?

Aye aye, the Pfizer vaccine has a no liability clause by the way.
Iamrich, I tried to find that out myself but it is hard to figure out.
1 Billion in the barrel is not the same as 1 billion in the ground.
I did see one example where 1 billion barrels at $50 = $50,000,000,000
After costs of getting out of the ground (different environment) $15 a barrel
$15,000,000,000 if shared 50/50 takes you to $7,500,000.000
$7,500,000,000 / by @ 5,000,000,000 shares = £1.50
But its not as simple as that and even the investec paper is probably on the high side, however if they find oil at P1 BPC will not be extracting it, it will go to a major. Now if you factor in the chances of hits on the other structures is increased with a hit at P1 then who knows. I dont but I would guess it would be huge for a penny share.
Couldnt get below the 2.30.. if we do I'll be loading up... my -40k loss is looking better but I was alway shere for the results... waited a very long time for this..
This is once in a lifetime... either way :-)
Does anyone know if a QC can be debarred in the Bahamas for attempting to bring a specious and malicious action to the Courts?
This JR crap reminds me if of the early 90s and swampy chaining himself to a tree to prevent the M3 bypass...... i often think of him when I’m hurtling along that freshly laid smooth tarmac... poor old swampy.
