London market, Belgium banned lootboxes which caused companies to remove them if you were located there, for example, in Apex legends, you can buy and earn loot boxes (loot tick), if you are based in Belgium, you are unable to buy them and if you were to earn one (through the battlepass or levelling your account) you instead earn crafting material which can be used to buy cosmetics for your characters/guns.
This cannot really be used to determine how developers will react to the house of lords proposal however as the Belgium gaming market is minute in comparison to the UK's market, especially when talking about the FIFA franchise as they are set to lose a whole lot more revenue than they did there.
Also, our involvement may be the tipping point for other locations to do the same... it's hard to say at this point how they will react but we can say for sure, they will be desperately looking to offset the huge revenue loss as quickly as possible so appease their shareholders.
Regarding lootboxes. I thought these had already been regulated in some pretty major places, especially on the continent? Does anybody know what measures those countries took & how gaming companies responded?
Could also have a future snowball affect, developers placing more advertising space within games to re coup the off set from the loss of these loot boxes.
There’s going to be a lot of money made somewhere, and we’re in the thick of it.
The stars are beginning to align...
Bit of an explanation for the older viewers on here.

Regarding the crackdown on lootboxes, I didn't think this would happen so quickly, I thought this would happen in a year or so.
This is great news, partly because they are a plague in the video games industry, and also due to the fact that this will cause a HUGE loss of revenue for developers... EA's FIFA ultimate team generated $1.38 BILLION in 2019, that's 55% of the total revenue of the game itself... without this cash cow, EA will be looking for other revenue streams... hmmm I wonder if there is a company that can help with that?
