Aveva, the computer aided designer, announced encouraging final results for the year ended 31st March 2009. The group reported strong growth in revenues, profits and cash as its products continue to do well in the Marine, Oil and Gas and Power markets. Revenues increased by 29% to 164 million pounds with recurring revenues up by 42% to 94.2 million pounds, representing 57% of total revenue. Initial fees were 57.7 million pounds, up from 52.9 million the previous year. Profit before tax rose by 32% to 59.2 million pounds and basic earnings per share increased by 23% to 62.27p. As a result of the strong performance the company increased its final dividend by 30% to 6.5p, bringing the full year dividend t 9.36p, an increase of 41%. Despite the good results the company has aired caution over the coming months, stating that the slowdown in global shipping and oil markets is now having an impact in orders, lessening forward visibility. Commenting on the outlook, Chairman Nick Prest said: "The sustained and considerable investment made by the Group over the past few years in developing our product range and expanding our geographical presence will ensure AVEVA maintains its position as a world leader in the markets in which it operates."
...a quick short here, methinks
Thanks for your views
Not sure my thoughts will help you a great deal but this is a lonely board to be watching. As far as I can tell AVV profits are up, check the news link and they don't have much debt. The chart (I'm no chartist so my understanding is basic) shows a ceiling around 900p where everyone gets out and there was support around the 700p mark but since we've broken through that I suspect we'll drop a fair way yet. Investors Chronicle mentioned AVV the other day raising concerns that the recession/crunch won't influence profits until next year so it added to the uncertainty. The MM's had a little play a week or so ago and this price drop doesn't have the same pattern. All in all when they hit the bottom I think they are worth buying. I don't think we've reached that point yet though (but I've been wrong in the past). Hope that helps.
?
Good news form aveva things looking really good this year, keep it up guys cheers!!!
Aveva went up like a rocket today. Now my theory is that people will see the increase in profits at the end of the financial year in March but I am new to this.
I was wondering whether I should hold or sell these in the near future.
tasty rise tho
