Hexam@ "I don't think that's necessarily true. For example it could mean half hold and half trade every 24 days or 90% hold and 10% trade every 5 days."
Yeah, I admit that my conclusion was almost meaningless. It is what it is. Everybody should do what suits them best... Short-term holders provide liquidity. Long-term holders provide stability.
ArgoBull, exactly as many of us thought at the time. Yet, other than having to wait much longer, we may yet return to the ATH scenario. As high or higher than we hoped in February might have happened but sadly did not. Partly for the reasons you stated.
A reasonable end to a dreadful start to the day. I too came into ARB shares early, in November 2018. Just after its launch in August, 2018. As an older person, LTH for me will be circa another 6/8 months or so. I've top sliced along the way, missed the ATH circa 350p and held, at one time 1. 3 million shares. Now at half that but still a strong number. Now day trading is all very well but I doubt it has created that many millionaires, compared to LTH such as myself. Not least because professional MM day traders have too big an advantage as to the price daily. I suspect the always quicker and larger falls feed nicely off the PI day traders vulnerability. As for the future, I will probably move down to a much smaller holding when the SP, sooner than later IMHO, moves into levels it deserves to be. 300p minimum and probably much higher when NASDAQ listed. 800p not out of the question this year. Or even this August!
Well said SHAREINTHIS.
My thinking at the £3 mark was that BTC is at all time highs and about to carry on, and we're about to be listed on NASDAQ and we'll catch up with RIOT/MARA.
What we actually got was Peter selling a bunch of options, a discounted dilution followed by Elon and others killing the market.
But I feel we're back in a good place now ready to have another go shortly.

I hear you.
I started of bloody well with my investments. Did my own research and some good subscription sites. But it's still all about someones point of view.
I remember around ATH period there were folks on here talking about life changing amounts for a relative small outlay.
Like I mentioned earlier 6K would of made you 400k, 15k a million. No wonder some of them were wetting themselves.
How many folks though sold at that peak when all the talk was of Bitcoin reaching 100k min and expected 300k by year end.
I've sold other stocks when they have made 350% but should of could of sold at 700%. I was informed to sell at 150% but hung on as I believed in the company.
That's the lesson for me but doesn't mean I would do as I thought.
I usaully go on my instinct and when i deviate in anyway errors occur.
LISTEN TO YOUR BLOODY INSTINCT SHAREINTHIS
Hexam, no I didn't think that was for me :) I'm biased towards holders as they take supply away which has a positive effect on price, where short term traders tend to dump the price down. But they are part of the market and we're all just trying to make money in the end.
My base case scenario is that BTC bull run is about to resume and that we'll see a peak Nov/Dec.
I'll be relying on Willy Woo (on chain data analyst), etc for thoughts on when peak is near and take action accordingly.
Price is hard to predict because if this goes into mania mode anything could happen with price. Also looking at peers to get an idea of potential market caps, and previous BTC bull runs for ideas.
(sigh) bitcoin at 39k while sp is stuck at 127p. Either way, we were due a cooling off day after a week of big gains. Happy to return to the days where I can bless the board with our favourite saying; "Y'all don't want to be out of this over the weekend!"
Have a great weekend lads and ladettes. ATB GLA DYOR
I made some money trading doge (my friend told me about it early) . I made some dollar but he kept telling me that it is a joke. Of corse it is.its a scam .but easy money..last week elon didnt want to mention doge. He has been talking !
AB - Sorry, it might sound like my last post was in response to yours. It wasn't. Timing the exit of a long term position is probably the hardest call to make when hindsight is not available - my approach is to try and stick to a pre-set exit price but it's always tempting to hold on for just that little bit more...
Exactly buddy. Keep a trading pot as with all shares but its a long game! How many newbie investors have lost their shirt beleiving that doge is going to make me a fortune. For many it has and for the rest……if only!!
Just don't get this LTH v trader thing. Everybody is a trader, it's just the time scales and target exit prices that are different and as a LTH I'm not going to turn my nose up to extra profit whilst the sp is so volatile. Seems silly to do so and involves no additional worrying about sp at all. But each to their own strategy.
Why have I not sold/traded?
Because I'm the worst trader in the world and can guarantee I'll turn any holding into 0.
Yes I should have sold at £3 and bought back at £1, which is very easy in hindsight. But in real time with real money it's just not something in my capability.
I plan to sell some at the peak of the BTC bull run - but obviously that will be a guess and I'll sell too early or too late. But I know now is too early.
Very true! See you at £5 and on another day atb
Breacon
Too true.
I bought at 115. Not much though. I was watching it for a while (@6.4p ) then took my eye off Crypto during December and regretted it every since.
Splatted. Good on you but it not yours until you sell.
Do you guys have strategies for trading around a core set of shares or mostly just buy and hold for gold
Im in at a quid due to averaging up and i do regret not selling everything at ATH. But it would have required offloading in february with big profit and then somehow having the patience, belief and....vision/sensibility to wait until it came all the way back down.
I saw a quote from the great cathie wood when asked anout her success over the last few years and the FIRST thing she said is paraphrased "well in my experience, if you're running that well, you're bound to eventually hit obstacles abd come back down"
I am watching a movie . Luc besson. The last time i watched it was in india after eating 4 hash cookies and it seems to make more sense now. The planet of a thousand s..something or other…
Is it ok to drink after a vaccine? …..i am asking for a friend ( of course)
Nope! I have added bringing up the average (7.1) now but the rest is for trading. Reasonable gains
"Me too. Still got my original 1 million at 6p though"
Surely you sold some at the all time high
A £6400 stake would of had made almost 400K
Hee hee.. feeling a bit dizzy and numb
Can’t be ar5ed with trying to trade this, more to life than worrying about day to day prices. I’ve got a day job to pay the bills and holidays.
LTH all day long, when the CEO says quarters and years, it’s all I need to know.
Splatted......I think your COVID jab is affecting you already!!!!!!

I'm loving that.
