Laughing at SPACs,as I said Eileen I'm not worried at all,but I'd imagine you must be very worried.
Koffe "I'm not even worried about the car competition"
Great stuff Koffee, and here's another one for you not to worry about:
"Electric car maker Polestar to go public via $20bn Spac deal"
Jep, yes this is a concern. If you're costs go up in line with your revenue there is no beneficial operational gearing right ? as you grow. You will always be low margin, just like the rest of the automotive industry. Conclusion: Tesla looks no different to any of the other OEMs
Another oddity from the Tesla accounts is the fact that Trade receivables is always growing and is high. Why ? when they get their cash up front from Customers pre orders ?
koffee "https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/a31350880/elon-musk-battery-farm/"
Koffee, so what you meant when you said "powering towns and cities" was "there is a Tesla battery pack in the Australian outback where there are no people"
btw, Is that the same farm where there was a battery fire that they couldn't put out for over 3 days ?
https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/a31350880/elon-musk-battery-farm/
koffee "I dont think you know how this game works do you Eileen"
Confirmation from koffee that Tesla haven't made any revenue from "powering towns and cities" then, and what he is claiming is tosh.
I dont think you know how this game works do you Eileen.
koffe "Thats a bit like saying whats the revenue from his cars Eileen,,keep clutching at those straws mate."
You are not making much sense I'm afraid. If they haven't made any revenue from "powering towns and cities" , why on earth are you going on about it ?
Thats a bit like saying whats the revenue from his cars Eileen,,keep clutching at those straws mate.
koffe "I'm quite content the real money will come from the domination of Tesla powering towns and cities and beyond."
koffe, how much revenue has Tesla generated so far "powering towns and cities" ?
I'm not even worried about the car competition(not that there is any),I'm quite content the real money will come from the domination of Tesla powering towns and cities and beyond.
No. I couldn’t say with any certainty who is unaffected. I know from my own anecdotal evidence though who is affected and more specifically in the mainstream £40-£60k range. So Mercedes, BMW, Audi, JLR, etc, all long long times, little if any dealer stock available.
WoW, are you saying that only Tesla is unaffected by the chip shortage ?
From what I’ve seen from my own personal work experiences we are going to pan the lot of them this quarter. The whole competition cannot fulfil orders in a timely fashion and the stock levels at dealers are virtually non-existent.

Major FUD alert.
The share price is up to where it was in May and even though Q3 numbers have not come out yet it appears we are in for another record busting quarter. Standby for a for a concerted FUD offensive.
I’d wager quite comfortably this time next year the PE will still be high but under 100 and no where near the 1700 it was twelve months ago. Two new factories to come online as well.
Chip shortage hasn’t affected Tesla - delivery 4-6 weeks. I placed an order for an Audi yesterday with a delivery ETA of Mar-22. BMW & Mercedes are quoting Jan-Mar 22.
Even if people don’t want a Tesla if they want a brand new car quick that’s factory made we are pretty much the only option.
Other manufacturers are also struggling to provide the optional extras - enhanced bluetooth, upgraded stereos being chopped due to the semi conductor shortage.

Well said.
Now something to cheer Eileen up a very comprehensive comparison between Model Y and Audi E-Tron
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWZ0BhzZ7Sk
Do watch it to the end and bear in mind the following
1) This is the US version prices may well be substantially different over this side of the pond.
2) At the price the E-Tron is a cracking purchase but it seems to me that it has been priced to compete in the market place with the Tesla rather than to turn Audi a profit and we will never be able to find out how much profit or loss they are making on each vehicle. This will not matter for Audi at present they have ICE cars to subsidise E-Tron in the numbers they will be able to make in the immediate future because they will not have sufficient batteries to make large numbers.
‘I would say it is all about the Shareprice for Tesla. At the moment, without government subsidy , they do not make a profit.’
That’s not true. Q2 earnings:
Gross Margin $2,884m
Income from Operations $1,312
Net gaap income attributable to common shareholders $1,142m
Regulatory Credits $354m, down 17% Year on Year
Meanwhile total revenue up 98% and gross profit up 128%
Gross margin also increased 3.3% despite drop in credits.
Dog, looks like lots of people think "FSD" is misleading
"
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept 23 (Reuters) – San Francisco transport authorities on Thursday raised concerns about the safety record of Tesla's advanced driver assistant system, as the electric car maker prepared a wide release of a test version of the software that works on city streets and highways.
The San Francisco County Transportation Authority (SFCTA) also disputed the name of the system, "Full Self-Driving" (FSD) saying it is an advanced driver assistance program, not an autonomous vehicle system."
Eileen
Without knowing the circumstances previous driving record number of violations / tickets age of person and model of car it is impossible to say. Many years ago I came across a 19 year old with Ford Escort RS 2000 who could only get Insurance from one company at £4000 a year (this is a long tome age when 4 grand was a hell of a lot of money)
Dog, people wouldn't expect it to be 500 / mth.
That is v.high
Eileen
I did not mention Tesla Insurance because it is not an option available in most places yet, apparently it is very difficult to start an Insurance company with many bureaucratic hurdles. Where available there is the option of Tesla Insurance which I understand is very keenly priced owing to the fact that they have driver and vehicle information indicating safe (or unsafe) vehicle use on which to make the quote.
Eileen
Scroll down the comments there seems to be a mixed bag of responses. I am not surprised that insurance is relatively high Teslas are still fairly rare, relatively expensive and Insurers certainly know how to pile on the costs for performance vehicles, many Teslas have super car acceleration and top speed so super car insurance rates are hardly surprising. Surely anyone buying a new car looks into insurance costs and gets quotes before taking the plunge.
Dog
Apparently the hidden cost of Tesla insurance "gets" a lot of unsuspecting buyers. A huge amount which doesn't seem to be factored into the cost of ownership

Chump
On the first count he got 20 million dollars any more evidence?
I do not deny that use of child labour in artisanal cobalt mining in the DRC is rife. Just because it goes on does not mean Tesla is guilty of it they apparently make great effort to source the cobalt they use. Not only that they use much less cobalt in their batteries (none in LFP ones or the new 4680's) Incidentally do you know how much cobalt is used by the oil industry in refining crude?
