I don't much care what it is NiptS, so long as it all adds up to millions of ££££.
Not long until we find out I guess but re moonshot i’d expect our involvement to be the processing side of things rather than clarigene.
Our initial 10k block is taken up with private testing so I wonder how many further blocks of 10k will be needed going forward for NHS capacity and increasing private needs.
good point Natdan. With the accuracy of Clarigene it should fit in with govt needs perfectly. I am sure this is why Ygen are now in the frame with the moonshot project. Yes, if the govt need big numbers we can't currently cope with, then licensing could well be a good option!
As an aside, just wanted to mention a quote on testing which appears to have slipped under the radar, from Dom Raab being interviewed by Surley Burley on Sky news yesterday.
"The challenge is that the false positive rate is very high: it's only 7% of tests that will be successful in identifying those who actually have the virus."
If true -and setting aside the obscenity of government policy being decided upon such flawed testing and data (garbage in, garbage out)- then is there an opportunity for Ygen to step up to the plate with its vastly superior and accurate products? Licensing to a third party producer perhaps in order to ramp up capacity? Or is this just fantasy-land on my part?
Thank you for the detailed response Steve (and the link). Much appreciated.
Waspsfan,
At the current manufacturing rate, we have been told we can make about 500k test kits by the December timeframe. I guess that's around 6000 per day ...
The current processing capacity of Yourgene's Manchester lab processing facility is 10k tests per month.
We have been told the lab processing capacity is being upgraded and that this would take place in chunks of 10k / month capacity ... so 10k -> 20k -> 30k and so on as required by demand.
The rest of the kits will be for sale via our worldwide partner network and processed in the partner's labs. We already have CE approval so that opens up Europe and should ease approval elsewhere.
I'm not sure if the NHS require anything beyond the CE approval, but we've been told we're pitching for a part of the moonshot contract, presumably both the sale of kits and lab processing.
If you haven't listened to it already, I suggest registering here (it's free) HtTps://www.investormeetcompany.com/yourgene-health-plc/register-investor and listening to the Investor Presentation that follows the AGM
I am trying to understand whether there is a difference between the amount of Clarigene test kits that are manufactured and to what extent the actual analysis to the tests will be done by Yougene themselves. So from the recent AGM presentation and Q&A Session does anyone please have a view on:
1) Clarigene Test Kits: How many can be manufactured a day now? And what would be the maximum manufacturing capacity over time?
2) From these test kits how many can Yougene analyse themselves daily currently? And how much could that figure be increased in the future?
3) Was there any mention of timescales for the NHS to approve use of the Clarigene diagnostic kit, and if so would the results be analysed by Yougene or another third party?
