Best stick to beer next time I’m in old London Town ......

39 Million tons of sewage are pumped into the Thames each year, the super sewer isn't operable and the current system can't cope with rain flooding the system. As for Windsor The water company was fined a couple of years back for a lake of the stuff flooding Windsor . Apparently 4 out of 5 rivers in the UK are subject to flushed raw sewage being dumped and fecal matter in minute quantities is detectable in mains water in London . It's why you can get that taste of bleach in the water in Central London, apparently part of the treatment
GIT, I just know COVID19 can be spread by faecal matter in water. Sorry, not a nice thought!
Tin up $265.
I shall be fishing at Royal Windsor over the weekend and I’m sure that there will be no nasty radioactive substances there, and U69 can only have been in the estuary so I’m not bothered about that.
Well there’s the crap from Aldermaston ( plutonium and uranium). There’s the Radon causing builds of radiation particularly at Rainham. But my favourite is Uranyl Oxide, ( uranium really) used in In school and other experiments. Recommended disposal is by flushing down the sink if in small quantities, so if it’s a large quantity what’s a bit each day? Given it’s heavy it gets to lay in the rivers. And it stays radioactive for ever as far as we are converned. I have been a radiation protection officer in my role as a thingy, so that’s how I know. Also guess what kind of substance is in smoke detectors that emits electrons - the flow of which is interrupted by smoke thus triggering an alarm. And oh yer Tilly lamps .
GIT, yes, U69 is still in the Thames somewhere, glowing green from the uranium!
Safety
U-what !
Everyone forgets about the uranium dumped in the Thames.
Kev,
Blimey - the Thames which was once full of sewage and in the tidal stretches devoid of fish has been cleaned up significantly, so, whilst I would not eat any fish caught from it, I feel pretty safe fishing in it, unless you know something I don’t mate ?
I won’t be eating trout until (unless) COVID19 is history. It can be spread by contact with poo and the water companies are known for discharging sewage into rivers, instead of paying the cost of upgrading sewage treatment facilities.
Happy lunchtime, by the way!
Mother, all this talk about fishing takes me back,as a yound boy in scotland no fishing rod for me,just used my bare hands,me and my pall would go down to the burn,he sat on my legs whilst i hung over the bank,a little bit of tickling the trouts belly then id through it on to the bank, good fun that was,if good news lands next week will be able to buy a rod, good luck all.
Richard, by mere coincidence, there is a branch of Angling Direct just half a mile from my front door. Would it be presumptuous of me to browse through their stocks while we wait for the explosion?
P.S. I would need the full kit, reel, nets etc, just so thee nose!!
Can see why MM is sticking with this one. Dipping, upright, downright, long trench, who gives a … if the numbers stack up to something big when they eventually agree the geology position of the gold stuff, then even me who has been here 9 plus years will be chucking the whole golf bag and clubs in the lake and buying some new ones! While I'm at it I'll buy Muvver a new fishing rod!
