Hopefully in the next couple of days
been quiet for a while. i think we are due for news soon.
Hi, Burleigh
Thanks for the reply on this. With these mining companies, if one's a geologist, one can make a judgement on the resources; but if one's not, one has to fall back on a judgement of the managers. Question 1, are they honest? (not absolutely honest, but sufficiently honest not to stab the shareholders in the back). Question 2, are they intelligent? Question 3, do they know their subject?
Here, I think the combination of Nicole and Mark Potter is right. He will do the corporate and financial stuff (e.g. the sale of Pilot Mountain, negotiating joint ventures), and she will do the geology.
It looks as if their plan is to bring the copper resource at Alford East and the tungsten at Molyhil into production, to give the company some revenue; and press ahead with exploration at Ragged Range.
Potter strikes me as a cunning fox; and I don't believe he would be putting Artemis' money into Thor, without a viable strategy for the company.
It's interesting looking at the info on this. The influence of Artemis extends beyond Potter; for we have Alastair Clayton, who is an executive director of Artemis, as one of our non-executive directors. And then I note that Nicole has managed to appoint another woman, Kate Pearce, as project geologist.
It's difficult to explain certain things; but I feel safe with this company. We'll be OK. It may take time; but we'll do well.

A lot more factors than that, which the Nevada state permits chasing for the Uranium mine in the USA also highlights. THOR is an AUS based miner so logistics also play a part (any venture there will be mostly reliant on 3rd parties so less direct control & different rules etc (Uranium is different due to higher margins & it is not something that would be a solo venture given the regulations that surround that type of material - this will always be a JORC reliant on USA mandates.)
Thor still has a tungsten/molybdenum mine in Molyhil AUS so any focus must always be on that which can be managed and cost controlled with less reliance on 3rd parties & all the other issues associated with dealing in a different country.
Whilst Tungsten prices have gone up THOR would still need to be dealing with the ever changing politics of the USA, POW are happy with that & I'm happy with that & what they have exchanged in return for the USA based mine.
Possibly but at the time the project economics did not stack up as it was not considered big enough!
"Completely agree Diadulus. THR went through a process/ beauty parade about 3 years ago. An approach was made to over 100 potential parties. None of them showed any interest. Well rid in my opinion!"
yes but surely this was a function of tungsten price at the time ?
Completely agree Diadulus. THR went through a process/ beauty parade about 3 years ago. An approach was made to over 100 potential parties. None of them showed any interest. Well rid in my opinion!
Pilot mountain was going nowhere for us, basically dead weight and an ongoing reminder of going nowhere fast. The share option is good as POW are currently moving into a nice size 50% JORC on one of there other projects. THOR is now in the position to focus more on the main projects along with a nice bit of capital and a shed load of share value not dependent on one thing but a whole company that does have JORC.
"Nice to have the cash /shares but you could build a whole company around the pilot mountain licence - it’s huge - can’t help but feel we were short changed."
I agree, feels like we are selling a bar of gold for 50p.
My retraction of this message didn't appear. This refers to ORCP not THR. Sorry folks.
Sorry guys. My post was meant for ORCP !!!
SP down 20% in the last 5 days. Maybe if we get some bad news the SP will rise as the movements always seem to be counter-intuitive.
Maybe short changed but ,at the the risk of stating the obvious,we still have a significant interest in Pilot Mountain by virtue of our ownership of POW shares
Just can't get away from Power Metal they seem to be everywhere.
interested in the SP. Everything else is just swings and roundabouts. Regardless of any news sp can't stay above 1p
It depends on your definition of "junior". Whichever way you look at it, resources is an industry that is overwhelmingly dominated by men and female CEO's are few and far between.
Nice to have the cash /shares but you could build a whole company around the pilot mountain licence - it’s huge - can’t help but feel we were short changed.
Nicole Galloway Warland, Managing Director of Thor Mining, commented:
"We are pleased to announce the completion of the due diligence process by Power Metals and its written confirmation to exercise the option to acquire the 100% of Pilot Mountain Project in Nevada, USA.
This strategic divestment will allow Thor to focus on our copper and gold projects and provide further capital to accelerate exploration activities, including RC drilling, at Ragged Range Project in the Pilbara WA and progress baseline studies for In-situ Recovery for copper and gold at Alford East Project, SA.
This sale is also the right mix of cash and shares to provide ongoing exposure to the Pilot Mountain Project."
Oh come on - it's 2021. Yes more females needed to redress historic imbalance and prejudice but there will be good CEO's and bad CEO's - what's between their legs doesn't make any difference to that fact - even discussing 'the positives' presumes there could be gender based negatives.
(For what it matters - I'm M)
A misogynistic point of view about female CEOs might be that males are better - sooooo females work harder and try harder to get acceptance and success!!!!
ALL BODES WELL FOR US THEN IF THAT'S THE CASE : )
Hi Imp. For some time I have had the opinion that AIM companies could do with more females on the BOD.
Hi, Naise
This thought had crossed my mind, too. As far as I know, Nicole is the only female CEO in the junior mining/exploration sector. If anyone knows otherwise, do tell me.
